Facility & Cylinder Room Assistant – Entry Level
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Job Overview and Responsibilities:
To ensure that Bureau Veritas’ operational facilities are maintained to ensure a healthy and safe work environment by meeting and exceeding company and laboratory standards.
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
- Ensure all assigned Facility safety related items are addressed promptly
- Perform exterior building maintenance (E.g. snow removal, area clean-up, Hvac filter maintenance, Etc.)
- Perform routine maintenance within the building (e.g. changing of light bulbs, equipment maintenance: filter replacements, pump rebuilds, Etc.)
- Perform minor repairs and modifications (e.g. partitions, walls, doors, painting, plumbing)
- Perform safety inspections (E.g. Fumehood, Hvac systems, and safety systems: Eyewash/shower, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.)
- Working at various heights (Building roof, scissor lift, etc.)
- Ensure contents of sample containers are properly and safely disposed of by following required procedures as well as maintaining proper functioning of equipment on a regular basis
- Perform cleaning of cylinders (oil samples by solvent recirculation, gas, LPG by steam and dry air) followed by evacuation and preparation for re-use
- Full servicing of sample containers, including ensuring that sample containers are clearly labelled, faulty parts appropriately replaced and tested for safety prior to use
Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:
- Education: High School Diploma
- 1 year of general maintenance or equivalent experience is preferred
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanically inclined expertise/skills preferred
- Forklift, scissor lift, fall protection experience preferred – Training will be provided
- Strong Computer skills
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented and solid record keeping skills
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted

Experience:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma
- 1 year of general maintenance or equivalent experience (Preferred)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Willing to work overtime or be on call when necessary (including some weekends)
