PURPOSE – The HSE Systems and Communications Manager is responsible for aligning and overseeing HSE-related systems, policies, procedures, tools and communications for Bureau Veritas North America (BVNA) in collaboration with the VP HS, VP CSR & Environment, and other HSE Leaders.  They will implement and monitor incident reporting, corrective action, inspection and audit systems; oversee ISO systems and assist with implementation/certification of BVNA business units; manage and oversee the internal and external ISO and compliance management audit program; and develop, coordinate, and manage HSE-related communications.

This leader will work to develop a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, where our employees’ safety and well-being is always first by developing and influencing the leaders in their Business Unit(s).  This leader will serve as a technical expert and resource in HSE matters and serve as the leader/resource in their assigned network areas of responsibility. 

As a member of the corporate HSE team, they are expected to help develop and execute strategic objectives targeting HSE systems & processes, including ISO systems and SME program documents[MM1] [RB2] . Additionally, this manager is responsible for working cross-functionally with other roles in corporate, legal, quality, human resources, etc.

 

           

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Harmonize HSE systems, programs, policies, etc., from multiple businesses into a platform approach that provides the framework of HSE operations for all businesses.
  • Evaluate HSE tools and processes for efficiency, cost, and effectiveness and provide recommendations for alignment and standardization where appropriate.
  • Create transition plans and assist in execution of managed change to centralized, platformed systems, policies, procedures etc. when needed to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and deliver training on HSE tools and systems.
  • Serve as a technical resource and administrator for HSE systems and tools including Nexus, document control, telematics and others.
  • Assist with creation of HSE training requirements and materials appropriate to position and business.
  • Create materials and templates for and implement an HSE communication plan for BVNA that aligns with and supports themes based on the training calendar, events and campaigns.
  • Partner effectively to produce presentations, annual reports, SharePoint content, newsletters, senior leader communications, and web meetings.
  • Collaborate with VP HS and VP CSR & Environment to define, communicate, and report HSE's success metrics.
  • Collaborate with HSE team to ensure alignment and support of key strategies and initiatives and ensure consistency of messaging. 
  • Assist with defining content and functionality of the HSE Sharepoint site; own the site and content updates.
  • Support global safety, environmental and sustainability campaigns.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders at all organizational levels.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS – The HSE Systems and Communications Manager will have a direct reporting relationship with the Vice President of Health and Safety and a dotted line reporting relationship with the Vice President of CSR & Environment.
