Hours Worked: Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 3:00PM. Flexibility required for potential changes in work shift hours to meet department needs. Occasional weekday overtime 3:00PM – 6:00PM may be available and required on occasion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide animal husbandry support including, but not limited to: preparing cages for change out and changing cages on a scheduled basis.
- Provide sanitation services associated with animal rooms, procedure laboratories, necropsy rooms, surgery suites, and other support facilities.
- Provide general housekeeping services for corridors and support areas (feed rooms, procedure rooms, surgery rooms, necropsy rooms, etc.)
- Observe laboratory animals for variations in the dietary habits, feces and urine character, health status, unusual behavior and death.
- Report trauma or signs of disease to appropriate personnel.
- Perform daily health observations, feed and water observations.
- Perform various methods of animal identification, maintaining records (census, room log, etc.) daily.
- Perform animal receipt, animal census, technical support, project support, and administrative support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management in compliance with the needs of Veterinary Resources.

- Awareness and general understanding of established and proposed federal, state and local regulations, guidelines and policies relating to laboratory animal science.
- Awareness and general understanding of provisions set forth in the "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals".
Education & Experience:
- Associates Degree in a related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience working directly with animals.
- General knowledge of machinery is helpful.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
