Position Summary:

The Molecular Biologist II & Trainer is responsible for efficient delivery of day-to-day assigned tasks including training ATL coworkers. They are highly organized, develop training plans and procedures/job aids, and teach organizational and good research practice (GRP) skills to trainees. They are a subject matter expert (SME) in all assigned lab tasks under the direction of the responsible scientist(s) and be able to explain as well as teach the science behind the techniques and data analysis. They exhibit quality and compliance in their daily work. They are a champion of, and promote ATL service standards framework. The Biologist II will complete their regular assigned daily work responsibilities in addition to the training of ATL associates, along with the expectations outlined below.

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for assigned tasks.
  • Receive tasks and information from scientist in charge regarding changes in processes, priorities, workflow, safety requirements or other information.
  • Provide flexible and adaptable support to the team.
  • Scientific Support including but not limited to ELISA, Western Blot, cell culture (immortalize, 3D and primary cells), QRT-PCR, other cell based screening assays, isolation and purification of genomic material, liquid handling equipment, fluorescent microscopy and imaging, plate readers, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, professional communication, flexibility, and ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Reporting progress on assigned tasks to the scientist in charge on a daily/weekly or monthly basis for set milestones, goals.
  • Be a point of contact for troubleshooting
  • Meetings regularly with the scientist in charge to discuss progress, upcoming work changes, and any new items
  • Provide regular updates to manager regarding workload, new/updated tasks, and associate performance
  • Perform other essential tasks projects and responsibilities as required.

 

 What You'll Need:

 

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Science
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in highly detail oriented lab environment
  • Critical thinking and proactive communication and escalation.
  • Strong note booking and documentation skills
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills such as communication, relationship building, being approachable, show initiative, be adaptable and project an outward positive attitude
  •  Must have an excellent foundation in technical problem solving to assist in trouble shooting, samples management, shipping, ordering, equipment or logistical issues
  • Represents ATL in a way to exceed client expectations through a high level of professionalism, reliability, and willingness to get the job done
  • Professional, clear and concise communicate required in both written and verbal formats
  • Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand job-specific software is required
  • Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
  • Team-oriented and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  •  Be a proven multi-tasker that truly thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively
  • Driven, energetic person able to coordinate activities among different areas of the department
