 Bureau Veritas is looking for a Laboratory Technician - Microbiology to join our food laboratory in Saint-Laurent, QC.

 

 

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Provide general lab support;
  • Perform basic testing procedures for food samples;
  • Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation;
  • Assist with media preparation and decontamination;
  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials;
  • If needed, help at sample reception;
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure;
  • Prioritize daily workload based on sample and client requirement;
  • Identify any non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures for handling;
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor;
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications;
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements;
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized;
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

               

 

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have a minimum: College diploma in Science;
  • Have experience in a laboratory is an asset;
  • Have a positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Have good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills;
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team;
  • Are detail orientated and have record keeping skills;
  • Learn quickly and are able to perform repetitive tasks;
  • Adapt well to a changing environment;
  • Have excellent computer skills.

 

 

Working conditions:

  • Work place : 7150 rue Frederick Banting, Ville Saint-Laurent, Montreal (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS LOCATION IS NOT ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSIT FOR THE EVENING SHIFT);
  • 6 months contract (possibility of transitioning to a permanent position);
  • Work schedule : evening shift, Monday to Friday 2PM-10PM (needs to be available for overtime 1-2h/day and every second Saturday);
  • Status: Full time, 37.5h/week;
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks;
  • Capacity to work on your feet for long hours.
