Job Summary:

 

Under general supervision, performs complex and difficult planning duties including planning and coordinating maintenance and track work. Perform interdepartmental coordination of track maintenance and upgrade work through design phase, scheduling, and actual work for maintenance and replacement of the BART’s track, junctions, and appurtenances; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs related duties as assigned.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees, and plans various assigned tasks to ensure the BART’s track structures and trackway will provide for safe and uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintains track and structure information and provides direction to various departments regarding the BART’s trackway clearances; develops and maintains District track standards and criteria and technical specifications related to track and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate inspections and accepts new track construction and rehabilitation. 
  • Administers, reviews, and evaluates the activities of assigned staff or contractors; supervises the review and approval of contractor and consultant work products and authorizes payments. 
  • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates, requests for proposals and bid documents for track structure maintenance, rehabilitation and construction.
  • Investigates, monitors, inspects and analyzes existing field conditions; prepares periodic and special reports and other necessary correspondence as assigned. Use Maximo
  • Request/coordinate for Track Allocation for track maintenance work, weekend shut downs, and emergency shut downs for track maintenance work.
  • Maintains track and trackway infrastructure asset management databases; maintains historical maintenance records and databases related to track and trackway infrastructure.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of track design, maintenance, inspection and repair. 
  • May participate in the selection of engineering staff, provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies, and implement discipline procedures.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field
  • 6 years of work experience minimum, performing construction related planning and coordination 

 

Physical & Environmental Working Conditions

  • Must be able to attend Field Meetings at Construction sites
  • Seldom climbing and traversing through Construction Terrains
  • Seldom exposure to loud noises and/or rain/wind

 

Travel:

  • No Traveling Required, but must be able to work out of Oakland at least 3 days a week minimum.
