Scientific Specialist - LC-MS/MS Department

As a Scientific Specialist, your main responsibilities are:

  • Provide scientific direction, guidance and expertise to design, develop and implement analytical systems used for conducting organic laboratory analyses.
  • Provides scientific leadership, guidance and training to Laboratory Staff, Sales and Customer Service.
  • Assists in keeping current of the latest technological advances in their field and assists to continuously improve efficiency and client service and satisfaction to increase company profitability.
  • Remains current with all regulatory changes in their field ensuring appropriateness of analytical methods and systems to meet these requirements.
  • Conducts contract feasibility, method development and validation using complex sample processing and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques (LC-MS/MS). This includes project design, management and oversight to completion.
  • Provides senior level data review and validation at the job level (Tier 2).
  • Evaluates changes in present procedures, which could improve efficiency, recovery, productivity, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of published scientific papers and acts as a peer reviewer for the preparation of same.
  • Supports and complies with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
  • Participates, when requested, in internal and external audits.

 

You are the ideal Scientific Specialist, if you have: 

  • Post-secondary education, B.Sc./M.Sc. in a related discipline and/or equivalent related experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
  • Ability to problem solve using creative processes; works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Makes decisive decisions based on sound technical knowledge.
  • Very keen attention to detail, following precise procedures and producing comprehensive technical records.
  • Self-driven, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills. Able to convey information in a clear and compelling way, both written and verbal to a broad range of audiences.
  • Ability to work in high level of work production in a faced-paced laboratory environment.
  • Requires flexible working hours. Overtime and shift work may be necessary.
  • Travel to other Bureau Veritas locations or conferences/seminars may be required.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 10 kgs) and may involve long periods of standing.
  • Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate personal protective equipment.
