Performs various building assessment-type projects. Assigned primarily to support housing inspections for military installations by conducting detailed inspections of military housing units, collecting data relating to the condition of the housing units utilizing using an iPad and other technology platforms. These programs may include client specific protocols as outlined by each Programs’ leadership team. This position requires extensive travel to client project sites primarily within the contiguous United States and abroad.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.

 

  1. Conducts housing inspections of military structures using established protocols/guidelines provided by the military or relevant authorities.
  2. Verify homes on military bases comply with safety regulations and standards, identifying / reporting any safety hazards promptly.
  3. Uses tablet for live data collection into web-based program to report on the condition of the property (including interior and exterior elements, structural components, plumbing, electrical systems, overall safety features).
  4. Uses tablet to provide photographic documentation to visually document the condition of each housing unit. Include images of any identified issues to support the inspection report.
  5. Ensures adherence to standardized checklists and inspection procedures provided by the military base or relevant authorities.
  6. Identifies and collects information on mechanical equipment for multiple property types, single-family homes, multiplex homes, townhouses, row houses, multifamily apartment complexes and barracks, and generates report on the condition and/or deficiencies.
  7. Conducts interviews with the on-site representative and/or individuals knowledgeable about the subject property as applicable.
  8. See specific role level guidelines for information on each Base Lead level. The parameters of these levels are to be used as general guidelines.
  9. Maintain project-by-project communication with senior management and insure continued flow of information regarding any issues or potential problems which may occur during a site deployment.
  10. Meets or exceeds performance objectives for productivity and report quality.
  11. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
  12. Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
  13. Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals.
  14. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV’s quality standards and strategic initiatives.
  15. Maintains safe and clean work area/spaces by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  16. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
  17. May be required to work overtime with prior authorization from supervisor and/or Program Management.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

 

Language Ability: Ability to read and write standard business communications and inspections report findings.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

 

Technology Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, possessing knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.

While performing the onsite/field duties, the employee is required to:

  • Walk (material part of an 8-hour workday, up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.)
  • Stand (material part of an 8-hour workday, up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.)
  • Sit, Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to observe basement and grade-level crawl spaces, and/or to read equipment data plates when necessary (at least once for each building assessed.)
  • Climb and balance stairs (at least once for each building assessed.)
  • Climb and balance various types of ladders to access flat roofs/hatch access (at least once for each building assessed.)
  • Repetitive use of hands/fingers for keyboard interaction (frequently.)
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Talk and hear (communicate with onsite contact.)
  • Vision (close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.)
  • Lift and or move (occasionally up to 40 pounds.)
  • Operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.
  • Operate a computer (up to 100% of workweek.)
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers.
  • Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, Train (75-100% of month (M-F weekly)) to client sites across the U.S. 
  • Onsite visits can occur for up to three continuous weeks at a time. Travel and onsite work are anticipated and expected. Overnight stays away from home will be required for terms of at least a week will be required for each week deployed to an onsite.
  • Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical components and assemblies, frequently exposed to work near energized electrical components and assemblies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock. The noise level at the project site is usually moderate.

 

While performing the office/offsite duties of this job:

The employee is regularly required to use hands. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the home or company office environment is usually quiet.
