Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist |

PURPOSE – The HSE Specialist supports implementation of HSE systems, processes, programs and compliance with all company, local, provincial, territory, state and federal regulations at the locations and/or projects in Nevada.
The specialist will work directly the Regional HSE Manager and local business leaders to develop a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, where our employees’ safety and well-being is always first. The specialist will serve as an onsite technical expert and resource in HSE matters.
As a member of the HSE team, they will support their operations in the execution of HSE systems, programs, policies, processes and training. Additionally, the specialist will partner cross-functionally with other roles including operations, quality, corporate social responsibility & environment, human resources, etc. |

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support compliance with required company, local, provincial, territory, state and federal regulatory requirements (reporting, training, recordkeeping, communications, etc.), ISO certifications, and corporate HSE initiatives
- Serve as an onsite technical resource (with support from the Corp HSE Team) for Nevada operations on all aspects of HSE
- Provide support to business safety needs including selection of PPE, training and program implementation
- Provide oversight and management of site safety coordinators including holding regular SSC meetings and performing SSC training
- Provide recommendations for control, correction, and continuous improvement of HSE issues and aspects
- Assist leaders with incident investigation/root cause analyses, development of corrective/preventive action plans, and closure of associated actions
- Recommend corrective and preventative safety measures and appropriate safety equipment and materials to local management
- Ensure corrective action, identified through investigations, inspections and hazard notifications is acted on in a timely manner and documented;
- Conduct safety training for new hires and periodic refresher training to employees
- Collect, organize and review safety records and ensure adherence to recordkeeping requirements
- Execute risk reduction activities including internal audit, risk assessment, risk reduction
- Conduct worksite observation tours and inspections on a regular basis and provide feedback to leaders on performance and observations
- Coordinate and oversee Industrial Hygiene related activities including personal monitoring, area monitoring, PPE use and selection, providing feedback on housekeeping practices and other needs
- Prepare and report on HSE related metrics and KPI’s for assigned locations
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Completion of Occupational Health & Safety Courses or equivalent considered an asset
- 3+ years’ experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental coordinator or specialist position
- High level of confidentiality and respect of personal information and company policies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively present critical information to groups of people
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to form decisions independently
- Excellent written and numerical skills with strong proficiency in MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint)
- Adaptable, self-starter attitude and thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment with minimal supervision
