Job Title: Digestion Technician
Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor / Laboratory Manager
Department: Geochemistry
Location: Vancouver. B.C.
Full-Time
Basic Purpose:
Reporting to the Department Manager & the Assistant Geochem Manager and under the general supervision of the Digestion Supervisor, this position performs duties related to the digestion and Whole Rock fusion of client samples for analysis.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
- Ensure fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority sequence.
- Digest samples according to written procedure without deviation unless authorized in writing by the Geochemistry Manager or Assistant Geochem Manager
- Prepare and document preparation of reagents according to written procedure without deviation
- Perform and document quality checks at all stages of sample and material handling, halting production where necessary by Hold card and reporting problems/issues to the Supervisor.
- Operate, maintain and ensure calibration records are kept for equipment according to written instruction.
- Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Digestion Technician position
- Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Other duties or tasks as assigned from time to time
Skills and Knowledge:
- College or technical diploma with relevant experience in similar laboratory environment
- Familiarity with WHMIS
- Excellent English, verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal, organizing and time management skills
- Excellent attention to details and workplace/work-related safety
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team

The salary range for this role is $20-$24 depending on shift.
Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
