Junior Account - you will provide accounting support to the Finance team including monthly reporting, handling bank deposits and invoices, contacting clients on invoice collections and other general accounting entries.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide general accounting support to the Assistant Financial Controller
  • Work closely with Shared Services Centre (GSSC) team including scanning of vendor invoices, taking down clients’ credit card information and forward any internal/external inquiries to the appropriate GSSC team member
  • Assist in report generation, data entry and maintain finance spreadsheets
  • Acquiring information and reporting on Treasury functions companywide for BVCC
  • Responsible for overseeing accounting and purchasing procedures, internal controls and database management
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, general ledger reconciliation and financial statements
  • Prepare bank deposits and handle bank runs as required
  • Oversee the maintenance of vendor as well as client relations
  • Investigate and justify expenditures and expense reports
  • Coordinate year end audits and annual audit preparations
  • Monitor AR/AP/Intercompany mailboxes and respond to inquiries when appropriate
  • Assist with duties as required for the month/quarter/year end process
  • Keep track of Fixed Assets (purchases, transfers, depreciation, physical inventory)
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail including sorting and maintenance of all finance related documents
  • Maintain working papers for all Business Units
  • Comply with all company policies, OHS regulations, workplace/laboratory safety procedures and applicable Quality System SOPs
  • Other duties will be assigned as required



Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Completion of Accounting diploma, relevant courses or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting role
  • Previous experience in data entry, bookkeeping, A/R and A/P required
  • Intermediate experience in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy



Job Type: Full-time permanent


Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)


Location: 9050 Shaughnessy Street, Vancouver, BC V6P 6E5 (on-site)
