Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Reports to: Director, Operations - Canada

Location: Vancouver, B.C.

 

Basic Purpose:

Reporting to the Director, Operations - Canada, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing overall maintenance / janitorial support to both plant and equipment. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible to safely ensure the building and equipment is in working order and meeting production requirements.

 

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

 

•          Managing a team of Maintenance Technicians and Building Services Technicians in providing maintenance / janitorial support to both building and equipment.

•          Providing Leadership and operations support to the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner.

•          Direct the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems.

•          Develop / implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventative maintenance programs.

•          Managing the maintenance / uptime of critical support systems including exhaust fans, fume scrubbers, air compressors, dust collectors, de-mineralized water system, and building HVAC systems.

•          Maintaining soil and rock sample preparation equipment, as well as other laboratory equipment.

•          Managing administrative tasks related to maintenance tracking, work orders, and asset management.

•          Complete incident investigation reports for any injuries, developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•          Providing support in resolving plant or equipment-related Health & Safety issues.

•          Lead a safety-first culture; ensuring all staff, contractors and visitors wear PPE and follow all HSE rules.

•          Works as part of a bigger team with other Managers to continuously improve systems.

•          Monitor and act on system-generated Corrective Actions by required due dates.

•          Support other branches and on-site laboratories as required.

•          Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position.

•          Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including PPE.

•          Develop and lead a process-oriented, proactive environment with a focus on safety, process improvements and efficiency.

•          Other tasks or projects as assigned by Director, Operations – Canada.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

•          Require completion of a college or university program in electrical or mechanical engineering or in another discipline related to building maintenance, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in building maintenance.

•          Minimum 10+ year experience in Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC maintenance.

•          Minimum 5+ year experience in Maintenance leadership positions.

•          Previous experience in laboratory settings is an asset.

•          Established leadership skills with a history of success providing growth and mentorship to staff.

•          Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•          Strong experience with service work order and asset management software.

•          Strong organization, time management, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

•          Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
