At Bureau Veritas, we are looking for a dedicated Special Inspector to join our team in Washington, DC. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that shape the landscape of our nation’s capital, ensuring compliance and excellence in every phase of construction.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, including any deficiencies or areas requiring corrective action.
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate inspection results and provide recommendations for compliance.
  • Verify materials, workmanship, and installations against approved plans and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, certifications, and project documentation.
  • Work independently in the field, managing time and resources efficiently.
  • Utilize a company-provided vehicle for site visits and inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Special Inspector.
  • ICC Special Inspector Certification.
  • Experience in at least three of the following areas:
    • Reinforced Concrete
    • Structural Masonry
    • Fireproofing
    • Prestressed Concrete
    • Tall Mass Timber
    • Soils
    • Structural Steel and Bolting
    • Structural Welding
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently, as the role is field-based most of the time.

  • The minimum starting wage range for this role commences at $55-60/hour, which is subject to increases that are contingent on factors like experience, education, licenses, or certifications.
  • Salary Determination: Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We consider total education, experience, skills, and certifications/licenses when determining the final salary. This information is transparently provided in adherence to several state and local Equal Pay and Pay Transparency Laws.
  • Contract Term: Initial contract for one year with possible extension.
