Project Engineer – Bureau Veritas Power
Schedule and project controls management of a utility scale solar and battery storage. This is a site-based role, typically located in remote locations that can be subject to extremes of weather and temperature, and requires living away from home.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Project Engineer will monitor all aspects of the construction work and support the Company and Consultant’s project management and site staff.
•    Work on daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, QA/QC, participate in daily Plan-Of-Day meetings, weekly customer meetings, and coordination with the Consultant’s Site Manager and other management staff from the Company. 
•    Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
•    Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
•    Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
•    Generates, maintains, tracks, and updates the project schedule on a weekly basis.
•    Follows processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensure implementation is consistent.
•    Create a culture of continuous improvement.
•    Performs audit functions to ensure compliance.
•    Communicates variances and changes 
•    Provides explanation of variances, and early warning of potential variances
•    Manages and controls the generation, issuance, resolution, and close-out of requests for information (RFI), technical enquiry forms, and transmittals/submittals.
•    Ensures that all superseded drawings, specifications, and other construction documents are marked as such, removed from the active construction and replaced with current versions.
•    Ensures that construction drawings and specifications are transmitted to the correct parties.
•    Ensures that field redline drawings of all construction work are maintained on site, and that final record drawings are generated upon completion of the project.
•    Supports developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
•    Review contractor quality documents and all turnover and project closeout documents as they are submitted (O&M manuals, as-builts, test reports etc.) 
•    Maintain updated records of latest project documents including latest project contract documents, contract amendments, change orders, project drawings, quality documents, turnover and close out document packages (job books)

Education, Certifications, and Experience 
•    Bachelor’s degree or minimum of three years of relevant experience in the power industry involved in construction activities with an EPC or IPP
•    Previous experience in the Renewable Energy sector & project management is essential

Physical Requirement
    Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
    Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels.
    Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50 pounds regularly/occasionally
    Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
    Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
    Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
    Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
    Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors.
    Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
