Analyst 2: Volatiles

About the role:
The position is in the Volatiles section of the Organics Department. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of preparation and analysis of samples submitted for hydrocarbon analysis. This will include, but not be limited to, sample extraction, standard and reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, calibration, analysis and troubleshooting. Reporting of test results and performance of any development activities requested by Manager/Supervisor.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
- Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis
- Operate and maintain all necessary instruments such as GC/MS and GC/MS/FID
- Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
- Provide support to ensure that instruments and equipment are maintained
- Exhibit flexibility to perform varying duties to accommodate changing priorities
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
- Keep work area clean, neat and organized
- Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned
- Available for shift work, OT and weekend work required
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma required, B.Sc. preferred
- Analytical Chemistry
- GC experienced preferred
