We are seeking a Permit & Zoning Technician to support our Braselton, GA municipal client. This role is ideal for someone with experience in local government, permitting, planning, zoning, community development, inspections support, or public-facing municipal operations who enjoys helping people, keeping processes organized, and supporting their community behind the scenes.

What You’ll Do
Permitting & Administrative Support
- Assist residents, contractors, developers, and business owners with permitting and zoning-related questions
- Process permit applications and related documentation
- Maintain accurate permit records, files, databases, and tracking systems
- Coordinate permit intake, routing, approvals, and issuance
- Support scheduling and coordination related to inspections and permitting activities
- Prepare reports, correspondence, notices, and other documentation as needed
- Provide front-line customer service in person, by phone, and electronically
Public Education & Customer Support
A major part of this role involves helping members of the public understand processes that may feel confusing, stressful, or unfamiliar.
You’ll:
- explain permit procedures, zoning requirements, and application processes in a clear and approachable way
- assist residents with navigating forms, documentation, and next steps
- provide patient, compassionate customer service to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels
- provide additional guidance and reassurance to residents who may be unfamiliar with permitting, zoning, or municipal processes
- help de-escalate frustration by listening carefully, communicating clearly, and guiding people toward solutions whenever possible
This role requires empathy, patience, professionalism, and the ability to balance policy compliance with excellent public service.
Zoning & Community Development Support
- Assist with zoning applications, compliance documentation, and related administrative processes
- Review applications for completeness and compliance with established procedures
- Help maintain public records and documentation related to zoning and permitting activities
- Support ordinance reviews, public hearing preparation, and related administrative research
- Respond professionally and compassionately to questions from the public and project stakeholders
Collaboration & Customer Service
- Build positive working relationships with municipal staff, contractors, developers, and community members
- Help create a smooth, organized, and customer-friendly permitting experience
- Support department operations through strong communication, organization, and follow-through
- Assist with special projects and additional administrative support as needed
What We’re Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in permitting, zoning, planning, municipal administration, community development, construction administration, or related public-sector support roles
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort working with databases, permitting software, Microsoft Office, and digital record systems
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
- High level of professionalism, initiative, and follow-through
