Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, 40 per week.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for reviewing the accuracy of data and serving as a technical liaison with clients. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting standards and regulations, conducting technical training, quoting projects, and working with clients to resolve technical problems. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of transit engineering principles, the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical assessments and solutions.

- Conduct systematic testing on diverse transit containers and materials using specialized ISTA equipment
- Evaluate test results for compliance with ISTA and ASTM transit requirements
- Demonstrate expertise in packaging engineering and transit testing methodologies, leasing with clients internally and externally
- Prepare samples for testing following rigorous standards and specifications
- Perform final review and critical error analysis of technical data and reports
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical testing challenges
- Review contract requirements to ensure client specification adherence
- Assess product samples for quality and safety considerations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current industry regulations and testing standards
- Provide technical consultation and problem resolution for client inquiries
- Prepare detailed written and verbal communications for internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate testing between laboratory departments
- Develop and implement new testing services, methods, and procedures
- Train and provide technical guidance to laboratory technicians
- Operate and maintain testing equipment and analytical instrumentation
- Organize and monitor workload to meet laboratory turnaround times
- Manage lab cleanliness and supply inventory
- Interface with staff members to ensure global testing consistency
- Assist in departmental project coordination

- Maintain meticulous documentation and reporting standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures
- Follow the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
Additional Responsibilities for Engineer I:
- Serve as primary technical contact for external and internal clients specializing in transit testing and reliability
- Provide technical consultation relating to International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) testing requirements
- Deliver precise recommendations and interpretations addressing compliance, test requests, and complex testing challenges
- Interact/participate with industry to review and interpret standards
- Maintain comprehensive understanding of evolving ISTA, ASTM, and international transportation testing protocols
- Prepare and deliver technically sophisticated quotes, proposals, and presentations to prospective and existing clients
- Prepare and deliver quotes, proposals, presentations, calls to prospects and clients.
- Develop materials and conduct client visits and educational tours.
- Develop comprehensive technical materials demonstrating transit testing capabilities
- Conduct professional client visits and educational tours explaining transit testing processes
- Translate technical testing insights into clear, actionable client recommendations
- Provide mentorship and technical direction for junior engineers and technicians
- Guide technical and administrative aspects of departmental transit testing projects
- Offer strategic direction to staff members across testing initiatives
- Provide support for technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects, providing direction to other staff members as needed.
Additional Responsibilities for Engineer II:
- Implement best practices in transit testing methodologies and quality assurance processes
- Provide technical opinions, recommendations, interpretation pertaining to compliance, test requests, and testing issues.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in transit testing environments, providing direction to other lab personnel.
- Assist in developing department strategy
- Identify/assist with new business opportunities/development activities/technical services.
- Lead and direct technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects, providing direction to other staff members as needed.
- Lead work groups in order to improve departmental systems and processes.
Required Skills & Proficiencies:

Education and Experience:
Engineer I:
- 4 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and up to 2 years related experience; or
- 2 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and 3-4 years related experience
- ISTA Certified Packaging Dynamics Professional (PDP) certification (preferred)
Engineer II:
- 4 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and 3-5 years related experience; or
- 2 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and 5-7 years related experience
- ISTA Certified Packaging Dynamics Professional (PDP) certification (preferred)
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation Range:
$65,000 - $75,000 annually. (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset)
