Location:

Cairo, Other/Not Applicable, EG

Type of contract:  Fixed term
Posting date:  27 Jun 2026
Job offer reference:  211246

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Sustainability Specialist is a country-based technical and commercial delivery role focused exclusively on Bureau Veritas’ Certification (CER) sustainability service line. Two positions are open: one in Egypt (Cairo) and one in Qatar (Doha), each embedded within their respective market.

Reporting to the local head of CER product line and functionally to the MCA Director of Sustainability, the Specialist will be the primary CER sustainability presence in-country: delivering client advisory mandates, leading proposal development, building the local CER pipeline and supporting BV’s brand in sustainability circles. This position is client-facing and carries direct delivery responsibility across carbon advisory, ESG reporting, assurance and related CER services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Delivery & Advisory

  • Lead and deliver sustainability advisory mandates in-country across core CER focus areas:
    • Carbon accounting, GHG baseline assessments and Scope 1/2/3 inventories (ISO 14064 / GHG Protocol)
    • Organisational and product carbon footprint calculations and decarbonisation roadmaps
    • ESG strategy development, materiality assessments and CDP/SBTi alignment
    • Sustainability report assurance under ISAE 3000 / ISSA 5000
    • CBAM exposure assessments and supply chain ESG due diligence
    • IFRS S2 readiness assessments and climate-related financial disclosure support
    • EcoVadis score improvement programmes and ESG rating advisory
  • Conduct GHG verification audits and CER certification assessments in accordance with BV methodology and applicable international standards
  • Prepare high-quality technical deliverables: verification reports, advisory frameworks, gap analyses, decarbonisation plans and client presentations
  • Coordinate with the MCA regional team and Egypt Technical Hub for peer review, QA/QC and technical sign-off on complex mandates
  • Stay current with regulatory developments relevant to in-country clients: local ESG disclosure requirements, CBAM updates, ISSB/IFRS S2 implementation timelines

Business Development & Proposals

  • Lead or co-lead the preparation of CER sustainability proposals, RFP responses and commercial offers for clients in Egypt / Qatar
  • Identify and qualify new CER business opportunities in-country, building a local pipeline across carbon advisory, ESG reporting, assurance, social audits and supply chain services
  • Support regional BD campaigns including CBAM advisory, sustainability assurance, IFRS S2 readiness and GHG verification drives
  • Prepare and deliver tailored client presentations, pitches and capability documents for local market audiences
  • Participate in bid/no-bid decisions with the regional Director and maintain accurate, real-time pipeline records in Salesforce
  • Develop in-country relationships with potential referral sources: law firms, financial advisors, sustainability consultancies and industry associations

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary BV point of contact for CER sustainability clients in-country — managing the full relationship from proposal through delivery, reporting and invoicing
  • Liaise with local regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, accreditation authorities and relevant government entities on CER matters
  • Represent Bureau Veritas at local sustainability events, ESG forums, carbon market conferences and industry roundtables
  • Manage repeat business opportunities, client satisfaction and contract renewals within the CER portfolio

Operational & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records for all in-country CER opportunities: pipeline values, stages, submission dates and win/loss outcomes
  • Prepare monthly country performance reports and pipeline inputs for MCA Director and area leadership
  • Ensure all CER mandates comply with BV quality standards, methodology requirements and relevant accreditation obligations
  • Contribute country-specific content to the MCA proposal library: case studies, client references, CVs and service descriptions
  • Participate in monthly MCA thematic training sessions and contribute to the quarterly regional sustainability newsletter

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • 4–6 years of experience in sustainability consulting, ESG advisory, GHG verification or CER-related services in Egypt, Qatar or the broader MENA region
  • Solid technical command of core CER sustainability disciplines:
    • GHG accounting and verification: ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, Scope 1/2/3 inventories
    • Carbon footprint methodologies and net-zero/decarbonisation advisory
    • ESG reporting frameworks: GRI, ISSB/IFRS S2, ESRS, CDP, TCFD
    • Sustainability assurance standards: ISAE 3000, ISSA 5000
    • CBAM and cross-border carbon due diligence
    • Supply chain ESG mapping and third-party risk (C97)
  • Excellent written English — ability to produce clear, professional technical reports, advisory deliverables and commercial proposals independently
  • Client-facing experience: ability to manage relationships, lead discovery meetings and present findings to senior stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business or a related field

Preferred

  • Professional certification: GHG Verifier, ISO 14064 Lead Auditor, GRI Certified Practitioner, CDP-accredited advisor, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of local market regulatory context:
    • Egypt: FRA sustainability disclosure requirements, Egyptian Exchange ESG guidelines, national GHG registry developments
    • Qatar: QSE ESG reporting requirements, National Vision 2030 sustainability pillars, QFC regulatory environment
  • Arabic language proficiency — strongly preferred for both roles given client and regulatory engagement
  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM tools for pipeline management
  • Familiarity with EcoVadis, MSCI ESG, S&P Global, or other ESG ratings platforms

Knowledge of social auditing principles (SMETA, SA8000) as an additional CER service area
