Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week 1st shift.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Analytical Chemist II is responsible for providing laboratory support for consumer beauty products. The analyst will perform various sample preparations, extractions, and other analytical techniques. The analyst will specialize in the utilization of triple-quadrupole Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS QQQ) and will follow routine analytical methods. The analyst can expect to be trained and support other analytical methods and instruments, such as GC, HP-LC, NMR, and biological kit assays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform instrument analysis to measure analytes from a variety of sample types, utilizing LC-MS QQQ, HPLC, and GC-FID
- Utilization of biological kits, mag-bead technology, chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and absorbance readers
- Perform serial dilutions to create standards and quality control samples following a written method
- Prepare samples for analysis, including extractions from human source material such as hair and skin, via a written protocol
- Run validated methods and maintain instrumentation
- Quantitate and interpret chromatographic data
- Prepare samples for NMR analysis per written protocol
- Document experiments and generate data reports via ELN (electronic lab notebook)
- Complies with SOPs and maintains all logbooks
- Complies with all safety guidelines.
- Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
Skills & Proficiencies:
- Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (or related instrumentation) experience
- Precision laboratory skills needed, including micro-pipetting, balance use, creation of serial dilutions, etc.
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
- Must have good customer service skills- job is client facing and performed in client laboratory
- Must be proficient in basic programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with keeping a laboratory notebook and performing basic analytical data analysis
- Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients
- Ability to multitask and time management skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet or exceed deadlines
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, high level of engagement

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree] in chemistry or closely related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chemistry lab
- Minimum of 6 months of experience working with LC-MS, HPLC, GC, or similar instrumentation
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation Range: $22 - $24 hourly (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset)
