Join a global leader in maritime classification and certification

Your career is about more than building a CV – it’s a chance to LeaveYourMark.

Joining Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore means becoming part of a world-leading organization in maritime classification and certification.

For nearly two centuries, we have been supporting innovation and transformation across the maritime sector, ensuring the safety, performance, and sustainability of ships and offshore infrastructures worldwide.

Our mission? To contribute to a safer and more sustainable maritime world, by providing our technical expertise and commitment to our clients and partners.

Discover an internship at the heart of maritime expertise: Would you like to apply your skills in mechanics and structural analysis within a highly technical and international environment?

Join our Technical Directorate, within the Design Evaluation Department, and more specifically the Structure Team, based in Paris La Défense.

As part of ship classification, structural verification applies in particular to liquefied gas tanks used for cargo or fuel storage.

One of the emerging technologies in this field concerns independent Type B tanks, for which a methodology note has been developed internally by our team.

The purpose of this internship is to test and enhance this internal guide using real-life case studies of previously approved tanks, in order to validate its relevance, improve its clarity, and identify possible optimization opportunities.

Your main missions

This internship will combine technical analysis, modeling, and structural calculations.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Applying the internal methodology note to several Type B tank designs already approved;
  • Performing prescriptive calculations and 3D finite element analyses (FEA) using internal tools such as Mars and VeriSTAR-Hull;
  • Verifying the mechanical strength of tanks under various criteria: tension, buckling, fatigue, and crack propagation;
  • Conducting a sensitivity analysis on calculation parameters to assess the impact of assumptions;
  • Preparing the review files required for standard technical assessments;
  • Proposing improvements and updates to the methodology document to ensure complete coverage of all aspects of structural design verification.

The results of your work will directly contribute to the evolution of our internal methodologies and the enhancement of technical quality, ensuring all aspects of structural design are thoroughly addressed.

Your strengths to succeed:

  • You are in the final year of an engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in mechanics or finite element analysis;
  • You have strong skills in numerical analysis and structural mechanics;
  • You are rigorous, autonomous, and analytical, with strong synthesis abilities;
  • Knowledge of Bureau Veritas classification rules would be an advantage;
  • You have a good command of English, both written and spoken, in an international working context.

Why join Bureau Veritas?

By joining our teams, you will participate in varied, enriching, and stimulating international projects. We support our teams throughout their careers with technical training and continuous professional development to keep them at the forefront of emerging technologies.

Convinced that diversity is a strength, we are committed to providing an inclusive and equitable work environment where everyone can contribute to the company's success. We promote gender equality and support professional integration, access, and retention of people with disabilities.
