Lead the Legal & Compliance Strategy of an International Organization
Are you looking to play a central role in steering legal, contractual, and compliance matters for an international division undergoing major transformation?
Join the Legal & Compliance team at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore Head Office, based in Courbevoie (La Défense), and become the strategic reference point for all legal and compliance issues across the M&O Product Line.
Reporting directly to the M&O VP Legal & Compliance (General Counsel and Compliance Officer), you will lead all legal and compliance activities at the Head Office, working closely with regional teams, subsidiaries, and the Group Legal & Compliance Department.
Your Main Responsibilities
Legal and Contractual Management
- Lead all legal matters in compliance with BV policies and external regulations
- Coordinate and manage the Head Office Legal & Compliance team
- Review and validate all contracts involving the M&O Head Office (NDAs, research agreements, service agreements, supplier agreements, framework agreements)
- Manage major claims and litigations for the M&O Product Line
Compliance and Ethics
- Drive the implementation of BV Group Ethics & Compliance Policies across M&O: due diligence campaigns, compliance declarations, internal investigations, anti-corruption risk mapping, compliance training
- Develop Ethics & Compliance culture awareness across the M&O Product Line
- Act as GDPR Ambassador for M&O and ensure compliance of all digital projects with GDPR regulations
Strategic Operations and Governance
- Lead major M&A projects as Project Lead for the legal stream
- Support M&O Strategy and Finance teams on acquisition operations
- Manage corporate records and legal formalities
- Coordinate relationships with the BV Group Legal Department on M&O corporate matters
Support and Development
- Provide legal and compliance guidance to Head Office and regional teams
- Organize Legal & Compliance awareness sessions and training
- Support M&O Regional teams on local claims, litigations, and international trade sanctions matters
- Contribute to continuous improvement of legal and compliance processes
Your strengths to succeed
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Law or equivalent (J.D.)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior legal role within a multinational, service-oriented organization
- Extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, compliance, and complex contract negotiation
- Proven experience in leading M&A operations and strategic initiatives
- Full comprehension of external regulatory and geopolitical influences on corporations
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, including sanctions, export control, and embargoes
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement legal strategies aligned with business objectives
- Strong understanding of Legal & Compliance reporting and forecasting processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
