Job Title: API Inspector
Job Purpose
The API Inspector is responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and ensuring the integrity of pressure equipment, piping systems, storage tanks, and related assets in accordance with applicable API codes, client requirements, and industry standards. The role supports safe and reliable plant operations by identifying defects, monitoring equipment condition, and recommending corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and associated equipment.
- Perform inspections in accordance with API standards such as API 510, API 570, and API 653.
- Review inspection reports, engineering drawings, material certificates, and maintenance records.
- Assess equipment condition and identify corrosion, erosion, cracking, leaks, and other forms of deterioration.
- Witness and monitor NDT activities, including UT, RT, MT, PT, and VT.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and recommend repair, replacement, or monitoring actions.
- Verify compliance with company procedures, client specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and NDT teams during shutdowns and routine inspections.
- Monitor repair activities and verify completion as per approved procedures.
- Maintain inspection records and update inspection databases as required.
- Participate in risk-based inspection (RBI) assessments when required.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and promote safe work practices at all times.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Valid API certification (API 510, API 570, and/or API 653).
- ASNT Level II certification in relevant NDT methods is an advantage.
- Knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME, API, and ASTM.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, or industrial facilities.
- Experience with shutdown inspections, condition assessments, and integrity management programs.
- Familiarity with inspection software and reporting systems is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of pressure equipment and piping inspection requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
- Good report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

- API 570 (Piping Inspector)
- API 653 (Storage Tank Inspector)
- NDT Level II Certifications (UT/MT/PT/VT/RT)
- H2S and relevant safety certifications
