INSPECTOR - SENIOR WELDING

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding inspections during fabrication, construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities.
• Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQT/WPQ).
• Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding activities.
• Witness and monitor welding processes to ensure compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
• Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as RT, UT, MT, PT, and PMI.
• Review material certificates, welding consumables, and traceability records.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, punch lists, and quality documentation.
• Identify welding defects and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and third-party inspectors regarding inspection activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and client-specific requirements.
• Monitor heat treatment activities (PWHT) and verify temperature records.
• Support quality audits and project quality assurance initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to HSE policies and safe working practices at site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
• Valid CSWIP 3.2/3.1, AWS-CWI, or equivalent Welding Inspector certification.
• Certified NDT Level II in RT, UT, MT, and PT (ASNT, ISO 9712, PCN, or equivalent) preferred.
• API Certifications such as API 570, API 510, API 653, API 580, or API 579 are advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW.

Experience

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in welding inspection within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, Offshore, or Industrial projects.
• Experience in fabrication yards, construction sites, shutdowns, and maintenance projects.
• Proven experience in client-facing inspection assignments and quality management systems.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of welding codes and standards.
• Strong report writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and welding symbols.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and inspection reporting systems.

Preferred Certifications

• CSWIP Welding Inspector 3.2 or 3.1
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• API 570, API 510, API 653
• NDT Level II (RT, UT, MT, PT)
• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor
• H2S and Offshore Safety Certifications (where applicable)
