Engineer - Protection & Control Commissioning

JOB TITE: ENGINEER (PROTECTION & CONTROL COMMISSIONING)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Shall Witness the installation, testing and commissioning activities related to protection, DC & Fault Recorder carried out by the contractor for substations of 400/132, 132/11 kV."
  2. Supervision of following commissioning activities:
  • DC scheme checks
  • Trip circuit supervision verification
  • Current transformer test by primary and secondary injection
  • Voltage transformer test by secondary injection
  • CT circuit verification primary injection
  • Protection relay setting and configuration checks
  • Feeder, transformer and Bus Bar Differential relay stability
  • Main and back up protection relays test by secondary injection of Siemens, ABB, SEL and Alstom make relays
  • Battery, Charger and battery monitoring equipment test
  • Digital fault recorder testing ( Siemens, Quiltorl and Rochester make)
  • Protection scheme verification of trip logic, inter trip logic, CBF and BBP scheme
  • End to end testing of feeder protection relays
  • Pre and post energization checks
  1. To follow up the pending item / snags during the testing stage & make sure that the substation will be energized without snags /pending items. Regularly follow up on snag and NODs to ensure the station is commissioning with zero snag.
  2. Shall conduct pre-energization checks to ensure smooth energization of the station without any incidents. Participate in energization & perform load test related to protection equipment.
  3. Shall review the as-built drawing received from contractors and prepare comments as per the defined timelines.
  4. To ensure all the commissioning activities carried out adheres to the standard safety procedures. Implement method statements and perform site visit and other on-site activities in line with the approved procedures.
  5. Shall conduct site visits on contractors request and ensure safe receipt of new equipment on site and provide site reports.
  6. To ensure non-disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the Authority, during or after employment in DEWA.
  7. To follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA's safety standards.
  8. To perform any other tasks as assigned by the reporting manager.

 

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Experience/Qualification 

  • Minimum 5 years experience for Bachelors degree holder
  • Minimum 7 years experience for Diploma holder
  • Problem solving skills to propose technical solutions
  • Knowledge in International Standards (IEEE, IEC, BS)
  • Proficiency in technical report writing
