Green Building Specialist

Location:

Dubai, Other/Not Applicable, AE

Type of contract:  Permanent
Posting date:  2 Oct 2026
Job offer reference:  216781

Role purpose

Bureau Veritas is expanding its green building and building performance offering across the MCA region, where mandatory local green building codes, net-zero commitments and investor-driven asset-level ESG disclosure are creating sustained demand from developers, asset owners, government entities and contractors.

The Green Building Specialist will act as the regional technical anchor for green building services — supporting business development and proposal work, and leading delivery of energy audits, certification and advisory assignments under LEED, EDGE and local schemes including Al Sa'fat (Dubai), Estidama Pearl (Abu Dhabi), Mostadam (KSA), GSAS (Qatar) and equivalent frameworks elsewhere in the region.

Key responsibilities

1. Business development support (approx. 30%)

  • Support the Director of Sustainability and country teams in identifying, qualifying and pursuing green building opportunities across the MCA region.
  • Act as subject matter expert in client meetings, pre-qualification sessions, site visits and pitch presentations.
  • Map the regulatory landscape by market — Al Sa'fat, Estidama, Mostadam, GSAS, national energy codes, Etihad ESCO / Super ESCO programmes, Saudi Green Initiative and equivalents — and translate regulatory change into a service pipeline.
  • Build and maintain relationships with certification bodies, scheme operators, regulators and municipal authorities (e.g. Dubai Municipality, DoE Abu Dhabi, MOMRAH/Mostadam, GORD, IFC/EDGE partners, USGBC/GBCI).
  • Contribute to service line development: pricing models, scope templates, delivery methodology, capability statements and marketing content.

2. Proposal development (approx. 30%)

  • Lead the technical writing of green building proposals, tenders and expressions of interest — scope of work, methodology, deliverables, team structure, work plan and assumptions.
  • Build bottom-up effort and cost estimates (man-day models, sub-consultant input, third-party fees, travel), and support commercial review and pricing decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain a reusable proposal library: reference projects, CVs, methodologies, scheme-specific narratives and technical annexes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary bid input across BV product lines (Buildings & Infrastructure, Certification, Industry) and across countries.
  • Respond to client clarifications and support negotiation through to contract award.

3. Project delivery (approx. 40%)

Energy and building performance

  • Plan and conduct energy audits to ASHRAE Level I, II and III standards, including site surveys, data logging, utility bill analysis, benchmarking and energy conservation measure (ECM) identification.
  • Develop energy models and simulations (IES-VE, DesignBuilder/EnergyPlus, eQUEST or equivalent) for performance-based compliance, ECM assessment and certification credits.
  • Produce technical and financial analysis of ECMs — savings, capex, payback, IRR, lifecycle cost — and present business cases to client leadership.
  • Support measurement and verification (IPMVP), retro-commissioning, and ISO 50001 energy management system implementation and readiness.

Certification and advisory

  • Manage green building certification assignments end-to-end: gap assessment, scheme selection, credit strategy, documentation, submission, review responses and award.
  • Deliver across LEED (BD+C, ID+C, O+M), EDGE, and local/regional schemes: Al Sa'fat, Estidama Pearl Building/Villa/Community, Mostadam (Residential and Buildings), GSAS, Green Star SA and others as required.
  • Provide design-stage advisory: passive design review, envelope and MEP optimisation, water efficiency, materials and embodied carbon, indoor environmental quality, commissioning oversight.
  • Support adjacent services where relevant — operational and embodied carbon footprinting for the built environment, net-zero roadmaps for real estate portfolios, EPC/BER assessments, healthy building certifications (WELL) and building-level ESG data for GRESB and investor reporting.

Project management and quality

  • Own project delivery: work planning, budget and margin management, resource coordination, client communication and reporting.
  • Manage sub-consultants and technical specialists where required.
  • Ensure technical quality, independence and impartiality in line with Bureau Veritas standards, accreditation requirements and scheme rules.
  • Mentor junior consultants and build regional delivery capability through training and knowledge transfer.

Candidate profile

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architectural or Building Services Engineering, Architecture, or Environmental/Energy Engineering. Master's degree an advantage.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant experience in green building consultancy, energy auditing, sustainability design or building performance — with meaningful experience in the GCC or wider MCA region.
  • Demonstrated delivery of at least one full certification cycle to award under LEED and at least one local scheme (Al Sa'fat, Estidama, Mostadam or GSAS).
  • Practical experience conducting energy audits and producing ECM business cases for commercial, hospitality, industrial or institutional assets.
  • At least one current professional credential, such as: LEED AP (BD+C or O+M), EDGE Expert or EDGE Auditor, Estidama PQP, Mostadam AP, GSAS-CGP, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), CMVP, or ASHRAE BEAP/HBDP.
  • Strong technical writing in English — proposals, reports and client-facing deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel across the MCA region.

Preferred

  • Arabic language capability, written and spoken.
  • Energy simulation proficiency (IES-VE, DesignBuilder, EnergyPlus, eQUEST) and familiarity with lifecycle assessment tools (One Click LCA, EC3).
  • Experience with ISO 50001, ISO 14001 or ISO 14064 implementation or auditing.
  • Exposure to embodied carbon, net-zero building roadmaps, GRESB, or EU Taxonomy / CSRD-aligned real estate reporting.
  • Prior experience in a TIC (testing, inspection, certification) or engineering consultancy environment with billable-utilisation targets.
  • Existing network among developers, master developers, government entities or ESCOs in the UAE and KSA.

Competencies

  • Commercial instinct — able to spot and shape an opportunity, not only execute a defined scope.
  • Client-facing credibility with senior technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Structured problem solving and comfort with ambiguity across 43 diverse markets.
  • Collaborative working across countries, product lines and cultures in a matrixed organisation.
  • Rigour and integrity: technical conclusions that hold up under scrutiny from regulators, certifiers and investors.
