- Reporting to - IND Manager/ IND Team Leader
- Education - Graduate Engineer/ Diploma Engineer – Mechanical
- Experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar field
Training / Specialty
- CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or AWS - CWI or an approved equivalent
- NACE/ CSWIP / British Gas Painting/ Painting inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent (for coating inspectors)
- API 510/ API 653 (for Mechanical static)
- Site Safety Induction (as applicable)
- Sea Survival Course for Offshore Sites (as applicable)
- H2S Course if Required (as applicable)
- Specific Technical Induction for Specific Projects
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS)
- Experience with welding inspections according to relevant Codes
- Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures
Technical Expertise - Within his field of competence, the inspector is expected to conduct the activities stated in PrimaryFunctions
- Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique
- Able to verify and approve non-conformities/corrective actions
- Able to identify the required Bureau Veritas interventions, based on a pre-defined Quality Plan and according to specified standards. Able to review/appraise inspection procedures
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review of applicable contractual requirements, technical standards, specifications, etc.)
- Review of Quality Plan and relevant procedures
- Review and validation of inspection assignment documentation [technical aspects, reference documentation, schedule, milestones, reporting, etc.)
- Definition of Bureau Veritas interventions
- Selection of the most appropriate inspection techniques
- Execution or supervision of inspection according to pre-defined Quality Plan, and to the established inspection procedures/ techniques
- Execution of inspection reporting including non-conformities (NCR's) and other applicable deliverables
- Ensuring quality of inspection according to BV Quality System
- Interpretation of results of inspections
- Contribute in treatment of internal non-conformities and corrective actions
- Review and appraisal of inspection procedures
- Maintaining internal communication
- Promotes Bureau Veritas service portfolio to clients
- Respects security guidelines of Bureau Veritas and safeguards personal security in the working environment
- Actively participates in the sharing of knowledge and information (Knowledge Management)
- Witness the welding procedure qualification tests
- Witness welder and welding operator's performance tests
- Raw material visual and dimensional inspection, review of MTCs for conformance/ compliance
- Ensure proper fit-up by checking edge preparation (bevel angles. root, gap, land, overlap etc.)
- Monitor pre-heating temperature, welding consumables, parameters
- Ensure welding works are performed as per approved procedures (WPS) and welders In-process welding surveillance and visual inspection of weld finish
- Monitor storage, handling and baking of welding consumable
- Ensure that fabrication is carried out as per approved drawings/Inspection test plans
- Witness water fill and or Pneumatic/ Hydraulic test
- Review of Painting reports, paints
- On Site Inspection & monitoring of painting activity
- Witnessing. verification of the coating system as per approved procedure
- Perform/ Witness coating inspection/ tests in accordance with the interventions of approved Inspection & Test plan and as per requirements of applicable procedure/ project specification
- Prepare inspection reports on time and submit to Team Leader far review and further action
- Perform any other task as & when requested by the Management
