Role Overview

Oil and Petroleum Laboratory Technicians conduct laboratory tests to analyze the chemical and physical properties of materials for quality control, process control, and product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Operation: Operate specialized lab instruments (microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, etc.)
• Material Testing: Test materials for purity, stability, viscosity, density, and presence of specific elements or contaminants
• Quality Verification: Verify manufactured products meet specifications
• Documentation: Record test results, prepare reports, graphs, and charts
• Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Chemical Preparation: Prepare solutions and adjust formulations to meet specifications
• Compliance & Leadership: Support ISO standards, promote lab performance, understand customer requirements, and maintain ethical conduct
• Availability: Work rotating schedules including weekends/holidays with on-call flexibility

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma/GED + 1–3 years related experience (or equivalent)
• Core Competencies: Technical reading and writing, mathematical skills, problem-solving, data analysis, attention to detail
• Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs; close and distance vision required
• Work Environment: Regular exposure to chemicals, fumes, extreme temperatures, and potentially explosive materials; moderate noise levels
