Position Information:

Job Title: Ecotox Analyst – Contract Position (April-December 2025)

Reports to (title): Laboratory Supervisor/Laboratory Manager

Department: Ecotoxicology Laboratory

Duration: Contract Fixed-Term until the end of November

Basic Purpose:

  • Results oriented to produce high quality defensible analytical data, safely and on time by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform analyses and complex sample preparation proficiently
  • Gain full knowledge with respect to performing analytical procedures and related quality control techniques

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

  • Review LIMS summary reports and organize daily work
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client; ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials
  • Perform routine toxicity analyses in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining cultures of bioassay organisms such as, rainbow trout, Daphnia magna, Ceriodaphnia dubia, and various algae. Assist with organism culture troubleshooting
  • Assess and correct problems with all laboratory operations according to SOP guidelines and ISO 17025 regulation criteria
  • Identify and document all known sample deviations, non-conformances, and/or process deviations and report to the Supervisor
  • Keep accurate records of all work, i.e., calibration and maintenance of instruments, water quality measurements, culture mortality and reproduction and test results
  • Provide preliminary client updates, as required
  • Inform Supervisor if SOP requires clarification or updates
  • Participate in internal/external audits, and contribute to MIAs, NSCs, investigations/corrective actions, when requested
  • Enter and verify data including TOXELN reporting
  • Evaluate and initiate problem solving in all areas of the laboratory
  • Participate in developing Standard Operating Procedures and general work instructions
  • Participate in the development / validation of new procedures and instruments, as required
  • Monitor the laboratory to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in a continuous and ongoing fashion
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
  • Keeps work area clean, neat and organized
  • All other responsibilities as assigned
