Job Title:  Quality Assurance Coordinator

Reports to: Quality Assurance Specialist or Quality Assurance Manager    

Department: Quality Assurance

BASIC PURPOSE

 

Supports the QA function within the local laboratory. With supervision received from the QA Specialist and/or QA Manager, assists in the implementation of the QA program to ensure that Bureau Veritas provides its customers accurate and defendable data.  Works towards ensuring the laboratories are in compliance with all relevant accreditation programs.  

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Reports to:                 QA Specialist or QA Manager

Reporting Staff:          N/A

Internal Contacts:      Department Supervisors, Operations, Sample Admin., Client Services, Administration, Sales, and other Bureau Veritas laboratories.

External Contacts:      Auditors, Customers

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

 

  • Strong science background and experience in laboratory practices.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control programs (ISO 17025).
  • Ability to write reports and work instructions.
  • Ability to conduct small staff training sessions.

 

Experience:     Minimum 2 years laboratory experience, internal auditor training is an asset.

 

Education:      Science Technical Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

 

  • Monitor Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices to ensure continual and effective implementation.
  • Educate and train staff in the requirements of Bureau Veritas’s Quality Management System.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of Bureau Veritas’s Quality Assurance  Program
  • Ensure the Quality System Tools are available and used.
  • Encourage, identify and participate in continual improvement.
  • Assist Internal Customers in addressing questions, concerns and stuck points with regards to quality practices.
  • Liaison and coordinator for External QA requirements and process including: Accreditation requirements (including PTs) and Client Audits.
  • Identify deviations from the management system
  • Approve documents and records for adequacy

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

General office environment with some exposure to laboratory environment.  Some evenings, week-ends and out of town travel may be required.

 

Assignments

 

            Related to Quality Assurance

Activities Include: monitoring the Internal Audit Program, Internal Auditing, preparation for Management Reviews, Management of Change reviews, NSCs and CARs

 

Quality Control (QA/QC) Activities

Activities Include:  Quality Control Charts annual reviews, coordinate primary calibrations (e.g balances and thermometers) , review method validation, Measurement Uncertainty spreadsheets and approval, training program, training sessions

 

            Intralaboratory Studies

Activities Include:  Ordering PT studies, Submitting PT results, reviewing PT reports, communicate results, PT failure follow-up

 

            Continual Improvement

Activities Include:  Encourage participation in continuous improvement initiatives and implement improvements in our quality program and lab process, identify and implement best practices

 

            Document Control/Record Control

Activities Include:  Assignment and tracking of Logbooks, Review and approval of SOPs, WI, Capital Assests, Storage and archiving of QA records. Distribution and tracking of controlled documents.

 

Compliant Pro Administration

Activities Include:  User Profiles, Training Profiles, creating courses, local training

 

            Internal Customer Requirements

Activities Include:  Training Sessions, Quality System Inquiries

 

            External Customer Requirements

Activities Include:  Customer Audits, Customer meetings, Customer QA inquiries, Quotes/Bids/RFPs, Information for Customer Reports, Customer Presentations

 

            Accreditation Audits

Activities Include: Preparation and organization of audit events.  Reporting of audit finding responses and follow-up responses.  Liaison with accreditation body.

 

 

            Corporate QA Initiatives and Projects

Activities Include:  Authoring and editing of QA National Work Instructions, training program, when requested

 

            QA Administration

Activities Include:  entering data for Scorecard, Staff conference calls and meetings, QA Training, responding to manager requests
