Shipping Assistant/Laborer
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Job Overview and Responsibilities:
Support function for Technical Services Department.
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
- Ability to use computers, shipping apps and Microsoft 365.
- Prepare and verify the shipping forms and way bills for all shipments of the day.
- Professionally interact face-to-face, over phone or by email with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform daily workload as prioritized by supervisor to accommodate daily rushes.
- Cleaning and preparing cylinders (sample vessels) to collect oil & gas samples.
- Perform cleaning of cylinders (oil samples by solvent recirculation, gas, LPG by steam and dry air) followed by evacuation and preparation for re-use
- Prepare the boxes of sample cylinders by strapping, labelling and arranging them for pick up by couriers.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Check and maintain proper functioning of equipment on a regular basis.
- Maintain proper inventory of supplies, parts, accessories and other consumables associated with shipping.
- Maintain open communication within department to effectively identify client needs
- Provide support as required to other areas of Technical Services Department.
- Update parts inventory and order parts.
Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:
- Education: High School Diploma or higher.
- Technical skills (handy with tools for cylinder repairs)
- Communicating by emails, knowledge of excel, and intensive use of computers.
- Previous experience as a labourer, and preferably some shipping experience.
- Previous experience with forklift or scissor lift is an asset
- Good time-management, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented and solid record keeping skills

Experience:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma
- 3 years of experience in related field (Asset)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Willing to work overtime when necessary (including some weekends)
