Bureau Veritas Iraq is looking to hire a Civil Engineer based in Erbil for an on-site position.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of civil/structural design, codes, and standards (national and international).
• Proven experience in design review, value engineering, and constructability analysis.
• Familiarity with procurement and tender processes for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in engineering design tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing technical oversight and supervision of civil, structural, architectural, and finishing works, ensuring compliance with approved IFC drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Conducting daily site observations and inspections to monitor construction activities, workmanship, quality, progress, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Reviewing and evaluating contractor technical submissions, including shop drawings, design calculations, method statements, material submittals, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and other relevant technical documents.
- Coordinating and guiding activities related to civil and architectural works and ensuring proper interface and coordination with structural, MEP, and other multidisciplinary project requirements.
- Monitoring contractor performance and construction progress to ensure compliance with the approved project schedule, quality requirements, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Reviewing and validating progress reports, executed work quantities, and contractor payment applications prior to certification.
- Ensuring the effective implementation of the project's Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) requirements across all construction activities.
- Identifying construction deficiencies and non-compliance and issuing technical instructions, site observations, comments, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), as required, while following up on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Participating in technical meetings and coordinating with the Client, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including technical reports, inspection records, correspondence, observations, NCRs, and other construction and contractual records.
- Preparing clear and professional technical reports and providing regular updates on construction progress, quality issues, risks, and outstanding technical matters.
