Verification Engineer - Offshore Cranes / Structures

Help Shape the Safety of Offshore Operations

At Bureau Veritas, we are looking for an experienced Verification Engineer to join our Independent Verification Body (IVB) team in Esbjerg. This is an opportunity to play a key role in safeguarding offshore installations while working with some of the industry's most recognized operators and asset owners.

About the Job
As a Verification Engineer, you will become part of our Offshore Verification team based in Esbjerg. You will contribute to independent verification activities for offshore assets in the Danish sector of the North Sea, helping ensure compliance, integrity, and operational safety throughout the asset lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent verification and conformity assessment activities
  • Reviewing engineering, inspection, maintenance, and operational documentation
  • Assessing compliance with applicable legislation, standards, and industry practices
  • Evaluating the integrity and safety of offshore cranes and lifting systems
  • Preparing clear and concise technical reports and recommendations
  • Engaging with clients, technical specialists, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Participating in onshore and offshore site visits when required

 

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to client sites and offshore installations. Typical offshore involvement consists of approximately five one-week trips per year.

About You
We are seeking a positive, analytical, and solution-oriented colleague who enjoys working across technical disciplines and tackling complex challenges.

You have strong communication skills, a structured approach to technical assessments, and the ability to balance technical requirements with practical operational realities.

As a minimum your educational background could be a structural engineering, bachelor, or other related degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience within offshore crane -operations, -maintenance, -inspection, or a closely related field or you could have a mechanical background with at least 6 years of relevant experience within offshore crane -operations, -maintenance, -inspection

Additionally, you should have:

  • Knowledge of offshore crane maintenance practices and associated standards and codes
  • Understanding of offshore operations and major hazard management principles
  • The ability to meet North Sea medical requirements and willingness to travel offshore
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Good report-writing and documentation skills
  • A systematic and detail-oriented working style

 The following will be considered an advantage:

  • Danish language skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience from the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with lifting equipment, mechanical integrity, verification, inspection, or regulatory compliance activities
