Job Summary:
The Plumbing Inspector conducts trade‑specific inspections of plumbing systems on data‑center projects throughout the Amarillo region and surrounding Texas counties. The role ensures that new construction, upgrades, and existing facilities comply with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) / Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners regulations, and any client‑specific standards. Responsibilities include plan review, field inspections, documentation, problem resolution, and supporting business‑development activities. Travel to multiple sites is required.

Plan Review & Code Interpretation
• Examine construction drawings, specifications, and single‑line diagrams for plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, fire‑suppression, condensate, and gas) to verify compliance with IPC/UPC, Texas plumbing codes, and client data‑center standards.
Field Inspections
• Perform on‑site inspections of:
o Water‑distribution piping, pressure‑reducing valves, and back‑flow preventers
o Drainage, vent, and waste‑water systems
o Fire‑suppression (e.g., pre‑action, FM‑200, CO₂) and sprinkler wet‑pipe systems
o Condensate and cooling‑tower plumbing
o Mechanical‑room plumbing (boilers, chillers, UPS battery rooms)
Quality‑Control (QA/QC) Oversight
• Verify that contractors follow approved plans, quality‑control checklists, and industry best practices; identify deviations and recommend corrective actions.
Report Preparation & Documentation
• Generate written and electronic inspection reports, issue Notices of Correction (NoCs), and maintain accurate inspection logs and photographic records in the compliance database.
Stakeholder Communication
• Explain code requirements, corrective actions, and quality‑control expectations to owners, contractors, and the public in clear, professional language.
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
• Recognize unique or complex plumbing challenges, evaluate alternatives, and provide technically sound solutions while exercising sound judgment.
Customer‑Service Relationship Management
• Maintain effective, courteous relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams; respond promptly to inquiries and service requests.
Business‑Development Support
• Assist the inspection management team with outreach, permit‑processing assistance, and proposal preparation for new data‑center projects.
Administrative & Office Tasks
• Perform routine office duties such as data entry, filing of inspection records, and updating of compliance software.
Other Duties
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager to meet departmental objectives.

Education, Certifications, and Experience (required)
Education
• High school diploma or GED (minimum)
• Associate degree in Plumbing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
Experience
• Minimum 2 years of journey‑level experience in one or more of the following:
o Municipal or county plumbing inspection services
o Commercial/industrial plumbing construction (especially data‑center or high‑availability facilities)
o Plumbing contracting or QA/QC roles
o Demonstrated ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, and code‑compliant details.
Licenses & Certifications
• Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners – Valid Plumbing Inspector license or Master/Journeyman plumber license (must be current).
• ICC (International Code Council) or equivalent certification in Plumbing (mandatory).
• Additional multi‑discipline certifications (e.g., fire‑suppression, medical‑gas) are a plus.
Other
• Valid Texas driver’s license (required).
• OSHA 30‑hour construction safety certification (preferred).
Physical and Environmental Conditions

• Environmental Exposure – Daily exposure to temperature extremes (heated/cooled data‑center interiors, outdoor conditions), dust, and occasional noise from mechanical equipment.

• Travel Mode – Use of personal or company provided vehicle; valid driver’s license required. Overnight stays may be required for distant sites.
