CAP Government, a division of Bureau Veritas, is seeking the immediate hire of a licensed Plumbing Plans Examiner and Inspector needed for inspection and plan review services of construction projects. The work involves the interpretation and application of these regulations as applied to customer relations, the review of building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
- Conducts examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings and all other required documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other regulations relating to building construction.
- Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction
- Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations
- Meets with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise during the plan review process.
- Prepares and maintains all required records and reports.
- Inspects buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required by the supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager
Required Education/Experience:
- State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in plumbing,
OR - State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in plumbing
OR - ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/ or Inspection certification in plumbing;
AND - Possession of the Journeyman Plumbing Certificate and four years of experience as a journeyman electrician
- Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development.
- Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements.
- Certified OR certifiable as a Plumbing Plans Examiner by the Miami Dade and/or the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA), is a plus!
Physical Requirements

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, sit, stand, hear, hands to fingers dexterity, handle, feel or operate objects, read and write English.

Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment; such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copies and fax machines.

Work is predominately outdoors and involves inspection of various land use developments, construction sites.

Must be able to lift, carry and or push articles weighing up to 25 lbs.

Must be able to wear hard hat/helmet, safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, noise, heights and dust are common.

Must have the physical ability to enter into and inspect hazardous locations, climb stairs, reach above and below shoulders, walk and bend.
