Laboratory Analyst 1 – Kearl Oil Sands Laboratory – FIFO

As a Laboratory Analyst, your responsibilities are to:

• Independently operate various instruments including GCs, Viscometers, Digital Density Meters, and PSD analyzers for petroleum plant operations
• Perform sample preparation and sample login
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Deliver high quality analytical data accurately and on time
• Efficiently handle glassware and equipment for extractions, refluxes and preparation, including Dean Stark analysis
• Maintain proper calibration, quality control records and routine maintenance procedures
• Troubleshoot analytical equipment
• Ensure adherence to Bureau Veritas’s policies, certifications and accreditations
• Actively participate in Bureau Veritas’s Health and Safety Program (safety meetings, near miss and incident reporting, hazard assessment)

You are an ideal Laboratory Analyst if you have [Minimum Requirements]:

• Minimum Education: Diploma in Chemistry or a related field (Required)
• 1-3 years of laboratory experience, preference for candidates with petroleum laboratory experience
• High level of work production in fast-paced laboratory environment.  Involves the repetition of the same process. 
• Ability to work 12 hr shifts with long periods of standing
• Routine lifting up to 15 lbs, some lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs
• Hazardous materials handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment

Schedule:

• 14 shifts on / 14 days off; alternating rotations of dayshift and nightshift
• 12-hour shifts 

• Fly In and Fly Out (FIFO) from either Edmonton or Calgary, or bus from Fort MacMurray

• Occasional overtime work may be required (vacation/shift rotation coverage)
