Who are we?
Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore is a leading player in technical inspections, certification and regulatory compliance for the maritime and offshore industry. The company offers comprehensive services for ensuring the safety, quality and environmental performance of ships, offshore installations and maritime infrastructure. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, Bureau Veritas plays a crucial role in promoting safety and environmental awareness within these industries worldwide.
With Bureau Veritas currently employing around 84,000 people in more than 140 different countries, working in our team brings all the benefits of working for a multinational company, but feels like a small company with plenty of room for movement. Because we are a young team in a dynamic, fast-developing market, there is always a lot to do and a lot of variation involved in the work. This makes it possible to partially tailor your work to your own interests and skills.
What will you do?
As Manager Environmental Compliance Department, you will be responsible for the delivery of our services which include verification and certification of data related to emissions from the maritime transport sector. With the Paris climate agreement, a course has been set towards a carbon-neutral economy, resulting in a succession of new laws and regulations in shipping.
An example of these new laws and regulations that we are working on is the EU ETS. This is a Cap & Trade system that has been introduced in the maritime sector from 2024, which means that ships must pay for their C02 emissions. One of our tasks will be to verify the data provided by ships. For this, it is important to be aware of the rules that are in force and to have a certain affinity with numbers.
