Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary:

The Biochemist III will support the early molecule discovery team. The successful candidate will design and implement robust biochemical and biophysical assays to support hit identification, hit triage, and mechanism of action characterization across diverse molecular targets. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with assay development, automation, and high-throughput screening to accelerate early-stage discovery programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and validate biochemical and biophysical assays for hit identification, hit triage, and mechanism of action characterization.
  • Apply a range of biochemical techniques, including fluorescence (e.g., TR-FRET), luminescence, and mass spectrometry-based assays, to measure function across diverse target classes such as enzymes and protein–protein interactions.
  • Miniaturize and automate assays as appropriate to support high-throughput screening .
  • Perform hands-on experimentation with Biacore instruments (S200, T200, 8K, 1K) and/or equivalent systems such as Carterra or Bruker.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data to internal project teams to guide early-stage molecule discovery.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including chemistry, structural biology, and computational groups to support target characterization and screening strategies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks as needed in a timely manner
  • Performs testing independently with little or not guidance from management
  • Identify, troubleshoot and solve escalated technical issues.
  • Write or edit procedure as requested
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Experience across diverse target classes including enzymes and protein–protein interactions.
  • Familiar with fluorescence, luminescence, and mass spectrometry-based assay
  • Ability to design experiments that balance throughput, sensitivity, and robustness.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field
  • Minimum of 2 year(s) of related experience

Compensation Range: $31.00-$34.00 per hour  (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset).
