Position Summary:
The Biologist II is responsible for performing testing following given protocols and critically evaluating the data.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Validate and perform independently cell-based and membrane-based assays for novel therapeutics.
- Perform cell culture and various in vitro biochemical assays.
- Daily support in maintaining and generating cell lines including transfected and immortalized mammalian cells for assays. Calculate seeding densities and maintain frozen stocks in liquid nitrogen.
- Apply and program state of the art automation to enable compound testing in microtiter plate assay format.
- Experience with multidrop reagent dispenser, Tecan liquid handler, and Echo acoustic instrumentation.
- Develop and perform assays in receptor pharmacology including target binding, functional cellular readouts such as cAMP production, phosphorylation, calcium levels, and beta-arrestin recruitment, and other biomarkers that would include standard molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Critically evaluate data and quality metrics independently. Prepare result summaries in written and oral formats.
- Track storage and log of preclinical exploratory research samples.
- Identify published scientific evidence to perform and refine early assay development.
- Accurate record keeping and reporting of data adhering to client note booking policy.
- Good communication skills, organization, and multitasking of job duties.
- Ability to be proactive, flexible, and capable of independent troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and reagents while communicating clearly to lab managers.
- Report on project status weekly and adhere to deadlines established by management teams.
- Follow guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Safety Manual / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Other duties as defined by manager, department needs, and workload
Skills & Proficiencies:
- Data analysis – familiarity with Excel, GraphPad Prism, Teams, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, GeneData Screener.
- Experience with cellular and biochemical techniques including cell culture.
- Proven consistent pipetting skills and aseptic technique
- Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
- Ability to multitask and be organized
- Professional, clear and concise communication required in written and verbal formats
- Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate effectively
- Work in team-oriented environment within cross-functional project teams
- Strong interpersonal skills such as communication, being approachable, showing initiative, adaptability, projecting positive attitude and ability to inspire others
- Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices and protocols

Education and Experience:
- Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the laboratory performing experiments and evaluating data
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation Range: $26.00-$28.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset).
