Hours Worked: Typically, [Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.]

However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary:

The In Vitro/In Vivo Biologist IV is responsible for supporting multiple animal studies including but not limited to in-vivo animal handling skills and dosing as well as conducting in-vitro experiments. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete dilution calculations and dosing solution accounting
  • Extensive mouse/rat handling, manipulations, surgical procedures
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and endpoints including qRT-PCR, ELISA, MSD, Western blot, IHC and multiplex immunofluorescence (cell/tissue based).
  • Performing microscopy and basic image software use
  • Independent dosing
  • Animal observations and inventory
  • Independent data analysis
  • Reporting of data in written and oral formats.
  • Perform all work in full compliance with company policies
  • Complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified.
  • Necropsy and dissection and collection of various tissues.
  • Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues or questions with the aim of enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations.
  • Accurately record test data.
  • Report safety, instrument and technical issues.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
  • Performs testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and provide suggested technical solutions to clients and management.
  • Prepares written technical reports.
  • Assist with training
  • Write or edit procedure as requested
  • Act in partnership with clients and management to support process improvement
  • Review and close root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Works directly with the client to implement new testing or process initiatives.
  • Assist in the coordination of technical & administrative aspects of various departmental projects, providing direction to techs.
  • Perform background/literature research to help further client research goals.

 

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

  • Expertise in handling small laboratory animals
  • Ability to train on all technical aspects in data analysis in the assigned laboratory
  • Instrument maintenance and performance qualification, and troubleshooting.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree requirement: Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Neuroscience, Molecular/Cell Biology or related discipline
    •  PhD degree and Neuroscience experience is preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience related lab experience and/or technical skills
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with mouse tail vein, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and intra-muscular injections.  
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with stereotaxic injection and survival brain surgery is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with mammalian cell culture, stable cell lines and cell bioassay

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
