Job Title: Industry Business Line Manager

 

Role Statement 
The Industry Business Line Manager within Bureau Veritas would be responsible for managing the business line that provides testing, inspection, and certification services to oil and gas companies. This might include services like equipment inspection, material testing, pipeline integrity management, and safety audits.

He performs the job in the framework of the BV Quality Assurance System, the Code of Ethics and the BV Group policies.

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Responsibilities would be as follows: 


•    Drive and achieve the Profit and Loss of Industry activities country wide.
•    Responsible for strong client outreach and client relation management (CRM)
•    Contribute to the implementation of a new business model based on long-term service contract, project management and focus on customer orientation.
•    Analyze the financial results and take necessary corrective actions for the achievement of the company objectives.
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity is entrusted with the following responsibilities within Bureau Veritas Entity:

 

Technical Support
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity provides technical advice to the surveyors and when required acts as project manager where he will be the interlocutor between the client and assigned surveyors and other Bureau Veritas units as required (Technical Center, Head Office or other Bureau Veritas office).
•    As project Manager, he shall deal with all topics to be covered by Bureau Veritas within the frame of the contract; he will participate in the selection of required surveyors and will report systematically on the job progress as well as all sales and expenses directly related to the project.
•    At the same time, he has to verify that surveyor or auditor is provided with sufficient technical information to fulfill his duties. He must assure that proper technical information (Specialized BV Procedure, Code or Standard, Technical Specification, etc.) is available to perform the mission of the surveyors.
•    The INDUSTRY Manager being the Technical Manager has to appoint “Associate Technical Manager” for taking care of A/M responsibilities during his absence.

 

Quality Assurance Implementation
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity must assure that the following documents are available and implemented:
•        Complete updated list of INDUSTRY Business line General and Specific Procedures.
•    INDUSTRY Business line general and Specific Procedures covering jobs carried out by Bureau Veritas entity.
•    Complete list of INDUSTRY Business line Reporting Forms.
•    Work Instructions issued by Bureau Veritas HO.

 

Business Requirements
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas entity centralizes market information of the concerned INDUSTRY in Entity and together with Country Chief Executives act as a correspondent between Bureau Veritas and the Client or any other concerned organization outside Bureau Veritas.
•    Here below an extract of roles and responsibilities to cover within the frame of the commercial Business line related to INDUSTRY development in Entity:
•    Assist CE directing marketing and sales within INDUSTRY.
•    Identify   new   clients   and ensure contact   and   sales   process   is accomplished.
•    Actively seek opportunities to increase sales to existing clients.
•    Maintain high profile within industry.
•    Upon request of Country Chief Executive, the INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity prepares offers to the Client. However, Country Chief Executive before submission must countersign each offer.
   

Human Resources
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity reviews manning of concerned INDUSTRY Business line including qualification of surveyors and makes recommendations to Chief Executive for Entity concerning new recruitment and staff training.
•    The INDUSTRY Manager will conduct an annual monitoring of processes to assess whether requirements of Bureau Veritas Region procedure (MER–QP-10) met. He has to update the monitoring plan and whenever the plan result is not achieved, a corrective action has to be implemented.

 

Contacting Persons within Bureau Veritas organization
•    The INDUSTRY Manager of Bureau Veritas Entity is expected to establish direct contact with INDUSTRY Business line Managers of other offices within MER and whenever necessary with other Regions of Bureau Veritas organization. He is also required to establish contact with technical personnel of concerned Bureau Veritas Division in Paris.

 

HSE Requirements
•    Always comply with all applicable legal requirements, BV Entity HSE Policies and procedures, client’s HSE procedures and practices.
•    Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/supervisor
•    Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
•    Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
•    Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do).
•    Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
•    Use appropriate PPE in the work area and be aware of:
o the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize
o Report immediately in case the PPE is worn off or lost.

•    Ensure project team receive health and safety induction training
•    Ensure project team is aware of applicable HSE policies and procedures of the client and respective project.
•    Perform routine inspection to check team’s adherence to the clients HSE procedures
•    Ensure on an ongoing basis, project team receive health and safety training which is appropriate to their job
•    Ensure project team are aware of their health and safety responsibilities and duties
•    Ensure project team is capable to carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner.
•    Promote the identification of opportunities to improve the health & safety of employees during their work activities
•    Promote the identification of initiatives to improve employee environmental awareness and reduction of environmental impacts
•    Carry out regular tours of their work areas to monitor general health, safety and welfare arrangements.

•    To ensure that any personal protective equipment, (PPE) that employees are required to use in their job:
o  have been appropriately assessed before use

o  is fit for purpose

o  provides adequate protection

o  is appropriately maintained and inspected.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES


2.   Minimum Required Qualifications
2.1. Specialty    
▪ GM SI 101 – Performance of shop inspections
▪ API 510, 570, 653 & NDT III

2.2. Education    
▪ University Degree in Engineering.

2.3. Technical knowledge    ▪ Application   of   codes   and   standards, project   specifications and procedures

2.4. Experience    
▪ Min. 15 years job experience. (& Master degree in Marketing or Business
Administration is a Plus.)
