Key Working Relationship

  • Act as focal point for advanced NDT scope discussions (PAUT, TOFD, LRUT, ECT, etc.)
  • Ensure client requirements, codes, and specifications are clearly understood and met.
  • Address technical queries, clarifications, and reporting expectations.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and technically sound reporting.
  • Standardize reporting formats and maintain traceability of inspection records.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Specialty

  • Expertise in defect detection, characterization, and accurate sizing.
  • Advanced skills in interpreting complex inspection data and signal analysis.
  • Acts as technical authority for advanced NDT within the organization.
  • Provides guidance, troubleshooting, and innovation in inspection techniques.

Education

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Metallurgy, or related Engineering discipline.

Training

  • Specialized in training and mentoring teams on advanced NDT technologies.
  • Drives continuous improvement and skill enhancement.

Technical knowledge

  • Proficiency in advanced ultrasonic techniques (TOFD, PAUT) for weld and flaw characterization.
  • Expertise in LRUT for pipeline screening and long-distance defect detection.
  • Skilled in IRIS for tube inspection in heat exchangers, boilers, and condensers.
  • Ability to interpret complex inspection data and produce accurate reports.
  • Competence in developing inspection procedures, calibrations, and scan plans.
  • Strong knowledge of defect acceptance criteria as per ASME, API, and client standards.
  • Familiarity with Fitness-for-Service (API 579) and integrity assessment practices.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in NDT, with at least 3–5 years in advanced NDT applications.

Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

Primary Functions

  • Perform advanced NDT inspections using TOFD, PAUT, LRUT, IRIS, and related techniques on welds, pressure vessels, pipelines, and heat exchangers.
  • Interpret inspection results and provide accurate assessment of flaws, corrosion, and degradation mechanisms.
  • Calibrate, configure, and operate advanced NDT equipment in line with standards and procedures.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with systems such as:
  • Omni Scan / Eddyfi / LRUT systems
  • Proficient in analysis software for data processing and reporting
  • Development of inspection strategies, scan plans, and technique selection for complex assets (pipelines, vessels, tanks).
  • Capability to execute inspections in critical and high-risk environments.

 

Business Requirements

  • Optimize utilization of advanced NDT equipment and manpower
  • Control operational costs (mobilization, equipment usage, consumables)
  • Support profitability through efficient planning and execution.   Provide technical input for proposals, tenders, and new business opportunities
  •  Identify opportunities to introduce advanced NDT solutions and expand service scope

  • Comply at all times with all applicable legal requirements, BV HSE Policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/HSE Representative
  • Report immediately to HSE Representative any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
  • Report immediately to HSE Representative any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
  • Reporting all incidents and acting whenever they see an unsafe act or condition
  • Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do).
  • Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
