Role Statement

 The Assistant Manager for the Metals & Minerals Laboratory is responsible for supporting the effective management and operation of the laboratory while ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant testing services. This role bridges technical expertise with operational management, ensuring excellence in analytical testing and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 Responsibilities would be as follows:

• Lead daily operations of metals and minerals testing laboratory
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and other relevant standards
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures
• Manage laboratory equipment’s maintenance and calibration schedules
• Supervise technical staff and coordinate work assignments
• Drive in-house testing capabilities enhancement
• Maintain test result’s accuracy and compliance to standard operation procedures
• Manager internal and external lab audits with corrective actions
• Prepare technical reports and documentations and address technical queries
• Manager laboratory budgets and consumables through maintaining inventory of chemicals and materials by optimizing resource allocation

Technical Expertise:

• Deep understanding of metallurgical analysis and mineral testing
• Practical knowledge of analytical techniques (XRF, ICP, AAS etc)
• Understanding of industry standards and regulations
• Laboratory information management system (LIMS)
• Must be aware of international mining and metallurgical regulations applied in mineral laboratory analysis

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Turnaround time: Average time to complete tests
• Quality Metrics: Accuracy rates, non-conformance incidents
• Efficiency: Test completed per resource hour
• Customer Satisfaction: Client feedback scores
• Compliance: Audit findings, certification maintenance
• Team Performance: Staff productivity and training completion

• Bacheor/Master degree in Chemistry or relavent field.
• Atleast 8 years of experience in the same field.  
• Advance analytical instrumentation knowledge
• Data interpretation and statistical analysis
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting
• Process optimization
• Documentation and reporting
• Regulatory compliance knowledge
