1.          Position Details

1.1.      Position            QA/QC Engineer - Civil

1.2.      Department    BNI

1.3.      Reporting to    Operations Manager / Team Leader

1.4.      Key Working Relationship     Operations Manager / Team Leader

 

2.          Minimum Required Qualifications

2.1.      Specialty          Inspection of Buildings & Infrastructure works especially for Tank Farm Facilities to determine their conformity with specified reference requirements (standards, specification, regulations etc.)

2.2.      Education        Civil Engineering Degree

2.3.      Training / Awareness International Standards and Codes, ISO 9001 Internal Audit Course

Quality Management System, ACI Certification etc.

2.4.      Technical knowledge

  • Conversant with relevant inspection techniques
  • Able to interpret Architectural & Structural drawings
  • Able to carry out inspections according to pre-defined Quality Plan using established inspection procedures
  • Develop Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) aligned with project specifications and standards (ISO 9001, ASTM, ACI, etc.)
  • Able to interpret inspection results
  • Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique 
  • Able to review / appraise inspection procedures
  • Able to manage one or more Junior Inspectors
  • Good Knowledge of report writing

2.5.      Experience      Civil engineering degree with min. 3 years experience

 

3.          Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

3.1.      Primary Functions     

The Engineer performs quality inspection (may be called surveys, monitoring or examination) of equipment, products, installations, etc., to determine their conformity with specified reference requirements (specifications, drawings, ITPs, etc.).

  • Witness and supervise testing of concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt, soil, and other materials
  • Verify and Ensure field inspections: formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete curing, compaction
  • Verify material certifications and mill test reports
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Identify non-conformances and issue corrective action requests (CARs)
  • Witness critical operations: concrete pours, welding, pile driving, compaction
  • Perform dimensional checks and tolerances verification
  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, test reports, and photographic documentation
  • Prepare daily/weekly quality reports for project management and coordinate with client

3.2.      Technical Expertise  

  • Awareness of applicable contractual requirements
  • Definition of Bureau Veritas interventions
  • Familiar with appropriate inspection techniques
  • Execution inspection according to pre-defined inspection procedures / techniques
  • Execution of inspection reporting including identification of Non-conformities (NCR’s) and other applicable deliverables

3.3.      Business Requirements

3.5.      Customer Focus

3.6.      HSE Requirements   

  • Authorized to stop work if condition, situation, environment…etc. is not safe to perform the activity (immediately inform to reporting person in the department for further guidance, if this authority is used).
  • Accountable to take care of own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what can do or cannot do.
  • Accountable for co-operating with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for health, safety or welfare.
  • Perform his duties in safe environment and respond to emergency situations as required by local procedures.
  • Submittal of required reports within time frame / as assigned
  • Comply at all times with all applicable legal requirements, BV Dubai HSE Policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/QHSE Manager
  • Reporting all incidents / Near Miss reporting as well as taking action whenever any unsafe act or condition is observed.
  • Responsible for giving feedback on HSE issues for improvement as participation and consultation requirement.
  • Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
  • Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
  • Use appropriate PPE in the work area and be aware of:
  • the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize
  • Report immediately in case the PPE is worn off or lost.
  • Communicate with their immediate manager any unsafe work practice or condition and opportunities for improvement of HSE practices.

 

4.          Performance Monitoring

4.1.      Continual Development       

  • Complete requirements for appropriate professional trainings in specified time frames.
  • Regular reading of professional journals and other technical literature.
  • Attend appropriate courses/seminars
  • Progress towards developing individual distinctive competence targets.
