1.         Position Details

1.1.      Position            Junior Microbiologist

1.2.      Office / Department  AFC

1.3.      Reporting to    Anser Rasheed

1.4.      Key Working Relationship     Field & Lab

 

2.         Minimum Required Qualifications

2.1.      Specialty         Food Testing

2.2.      Education        Bachelor’s / master’s degree in microbiology

2.3.      Training           GLP, Basic knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025

2.4.      Technical knowledge Microbiological testing of food & water, media preparation, record keeping, worksheets & testing reports, basic knowledge of use of lab equipment & waste disposal.

2.5.      Experience      Fresh/ 1 year experience in testing.

 

3.         Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

3.1.      Primary Functions      Microbiological testing of water, food, environment samples, swabs and raw materials.

3.2.      Technical Expertise   Microbiological testing of food & water, media preparation, record keeping, worksheets & testing reports, basic knowledge of use of lab equipment & waste disposal, Understanding of ISO 17025 and GLP. Participate in proficiency testing/inter-lab comparison.

3.3.      Business Requirements       

            •   Ensure timely completion of testing activities and reporting.

            •   Maintain confidentiality and integrity of customer samples and test results.

            •   Support laboratory accreditation requirements (ISO 17025) and quality objectives.

            •   Assist in achieving laboratory productivity and turnaround time (TAT) targets.

 

3.4.      Self Management      

            •   Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop technical competencies.

            •   Maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and good laboratory practices.

            •   Work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally.

            •   Manage assigned tasks independently and meet deadlines.

3.5.      Customer Focus        

            •   Handle customer samples with care and maintain traceability.

            •   Support timely and accurate delivery of test results.

            •   Respond positively to internal and external customer requirements.

            •   Contribute to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through quality service.

3.6.      HSE Requirements   

  • Comply at all times with all applicable legal requirements, BV HSE Policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/HSE Representative
  • Report immediately to HSE Representative any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
  • Report immediately to HSE Representative any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
  • Reporting all incidents and taking action whenever they see an unsafe act or condition
  • Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do).
  • Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.

 

4.          Performance Monitoring

4.1.      Continual Development       

        •   Complete required technical and HSE trainings.

        •   Participate in proficiency testing and competency assessments.

        •   Develop knowledge of ISO 17025, GLP, and laboratory best practices.

        •   Continuously improve technical skills through on-the-job training.

4.2.      KPI’s   

         •   Sample testing completed within agreed turnaround time (TAT).

         •   Accuracy and quality of testing results.

         •   Compliance with ISO 17025, GLP, and laboratory procedures.

         •   Zero major non-conformities attributable to the position.

         •   Timely completion of records, worksheets, and test reports.

         •   Participation in proficiency testing with satisfactory performance.

4.3.      Monitored By  Laboratory Manager / Technical Manager (Mr. Anser Rasheed)
