Job Purpose:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the financial aspects of the construction project. This includes preparing tender documents, contracts, budgets, and bills of quantities, as well as reviewing plans, estimating material quantities and costs, and optimizing project costs to ensure best value for money. The Quantity Surveyor also tracks project progress, manages material procurement, and evaluates supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other relevant project documents to be presented to the Site Engineers or clients.
- Review building, construction, or architectural plans and prepare detailed quantity assessments and cost estimates for materials.
- Create price forecasts for the cost of materials needed and conduct feasibility studies to optimize project costs.
- Gather data and perform quantification to verify the progress and accomplishments of the project.
- Identify ways to reduce the overall cost of the project while ensuring best value for money.
- Measure and value the work done on-site, including quantity take-offs and plan interpretation.
- Manage the material submission, ordering, and procurement processes.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
- Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final project cost and sales.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be a PRC Licensed Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineer.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the construction, property engineering, real estate, or building/infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, cost estimation, and project management principles.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing bills of quantities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize project costs and ensure project viability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with the Site Engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
