Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Grading Inspector to join our team for solar energy projects. The ideal candidate will oversee site grading, earthwork, and related civil construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, environmental regulations, and quality standards. This role is critical in preparing the site for efficient solar panel installation and long-term infrastructure stability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation & Grading Oversight
- Inspect clearing, excavation, and grading activities to ensure compliance with design plans.
- Verify that the site is graded to meet project requirements, including elevation and slope specifications.
- Soil Compaction & Testing
- Conduct on-site testing to ensure soil compaction meets stability requirements.
- Address any inconsistencies or deficiencies in compaction and grading.
- Drainage & Erosion Control
- Inspect the implementation of drainage systems and erosion control measures.
- Ensure site is prepared to handle environmental factors like rainwater runoff.
- Compliance Monitoring
- Verify adherence to local building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Identify and report any non-conformities to the project manager.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed inspection records, including measurements, test results, and site observations.
- Prepare and submit daily or weekly reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with project engineers, contractors, and environmental consultants to address grading challenges.
- Assist in resolving on-site issues and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in grading and earthwork inspection, preferably in renewable energy or large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles, construction drawings, and grading equipment.
- Knowledge of soil testing, compaction standards, and drainage systems.
- Strong understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in using surveying tools and software.
- Effective communication and report-writing skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on solar energy or renewable energy projects.
- Certification in construction quality assurance or inspection (e.g., NICET, ACI).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS tools, or similar software for site assessments.
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based, with exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Requires travel to project sites as needed.
