Position Summary: The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for conducting professional and technical work in physico-chemical analysis of coals, metals, and minerals. This role ensures the quality of services delivered and compliance with established laboratory management systems and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Physico-Chemical Analysis: Conduct detailed physico-chemical analysis of coal, metals, and minerals, including major and minor elements in coal ash, moisture, and loss on ignition (LOI).
  2. Data Management: Calculate, record, and verify results of laboratory tests. Create and sign laboratory test reports.
  3. Quality Assurance: Comply with QA/QC programs and perform QA/QC to ensure the quality of test results.
  4. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain laboratory equipment according to recommended schedules and procedures.
  5. Method Validation: Verify and validate test methods as necessary.
  6. Measurement Uncertainty: Conduct measurement uncertainty estimation.
  7. Certification: Encode data into Certificates of Analysis and sign and certify them in the absence of the Laboratory Supervisor.
  8. Coal Laboratory Support: Assist in the coal laboratory and conduct analysis of coal when manpower is inadequate.
  9. Compliance: Adhere to the Laboratory Management System, PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements, and company Code of Ethics and policies.
  10. Safety Standards: Comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS Chemistry with a Professional License.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of continuous exposure to laboratory testing.
  • Training: Code of Ethics, HR Policies, QHSSE Induction, Laboratory Management System, PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Awareness.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Leadership skills and confidentiality.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge of laboratory methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Understanding of basic principles of chemistry, thermodynamics, physics, and coal utilization.
  • Awareness of public health laboratory regulations.
