FLSA: Non-Exempt 

 

Hours Worked: Monday through Friday, 1st shift, forty hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned. Position available for annual renewal.

 

Compensation Range: $28 - $30 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).

 

Position Summary:

 

The Cell Biology Analyst IV is responsible for completing routine testing and method development for Consumer Product Research and Development. The associate will be completing cell biology and microbiology plate-based assays according to client-specific methods. Associate will perform necessary background research and assist client with development and optimization of novel methods. Associate will manage the laboratory needs and will report findings to client.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support primarily Oral Care R&D research activities
  • Perform high-throughput cell-based and microbiology assays on a daily basis including plate-based absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence assays
  • Biochemical assay development to measure various endpoints for samples provided 
  • Troubleshooting assay development and implementation
  • Growing and maintaining microbial and mammalian cell culture in a BSL-2 space
  • Custom bio-process design toward commercially unavailable bio-products.
  • Lab maintenance as necessary, including stocking of consumable materials, proper storage of research materials, and organization of all cell lines and lab reagents
  • Daily calibrations of instrumentation as needed, including logbook entries, reporting out-of-spec instrumentation 
  • Note booking, documentation, and data analysis in a GMP environment.
  • Support other Oral Care research as needed, such as panel studies and/or clinical trial processing. 
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth by clients and the company Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Other duties as defined by the Manager, department needs and workload.

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, etc.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
  • Must have good customer service skills- job is client facing and requires frequent communication across research group
  • Must be able to work independently and work as part of a team
  • Strong adherence and vigilance in regard to job safety standards and confidentiality
  • Strong aseptic technique and advanced laboratory skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills – being approachable, relationship building with external and internal contacts, demonstrating initiative and adaptability
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing business needs of clients/department
  • Demonstrate strong team leadership skills
  • Ability to train on all technical aspects in data analysis in the assigned laboratory
  • Instrument maintenance and performance qualification, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of experimental design and ability to perform necessary background research
  • Ability to oversee large projects involving multiple staff members
  • Knowledge of testing consumer products from laboratory / manufacturing / QA / QC perspective

Education and Experience:

 

  • Degree requirement: Master's Degree or higher in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in industry will be considered
  • Minimum (3) years of experience designing experiments and performing statistical analysis for systems biology
  • Minimum (2) years of experience working in BSL-2 lab, culturing both mammalian and bacterial cells
  • Familiarity with various kit-based assays and bioanalyzers
  • Data analytics software/coding (R program, Python, SAS) experience preferred

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
