FLSA: Non-exempt
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Position Summary:
The Engineering Technician III is responsible for supporting the client’s objectives, by providing accurate technical assistance, equipment preparation, and data support to ensure efficient testing and evaluation processes. Duties include: interfacing with key internal and external resources to manage material sourcing, tool construction, molded samples, and pack component technical and performance tests. The Associate will be coordinating the required tasks to successfully complete component and pack qualification.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Able to source and order materials and compare materials needed for injection molded parts
• Able to execute tests to measure functionality and performance of injection molded parts.
• Interfaces with key internal and external resources to manage material sourcing, tool construction, molded samples, and pack component technical and performance tests.
• Coordinates all things necessary to successfully complete component and pack qualification.
• Assists client Engineer with complex test methods, including some method development.
• Able to access the latest revisions of standards, protocols, and test methods in client SOP system and using client LIMS system.
• Prepares a variety of products for use in testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications, in a limited scope.
• Conduct complex testing or analyzing a variety of consumer products using prescribed methods, following testing standards / specifications appropriate to the sample, on specialized testing equipment
• Support data analysis and reporting
• Coordinate project activities
• Provide advanced technical consultations, if needed
• Ensure calibration and maintenance systems are up to date
• Propose and design new equipment
• Maintain test equipment, supplies, and cleanliness
• Record and enter data into spreadsheets and other data collection software
• Perform basic equipment troubleshooting
• Comply with company and client management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Follow the guidelines set forth by company and client Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Other duties as defined by manager, department needs and workload.

Skills & Proficiencies:
• Knowledge and experience with injection molding technology, part design, materials and processing fundamentals. The product consists of multiple injection molded components that require qualification individually and as an assembly, and may require part design input for performance optimization.
• Knowledge and experience across thermoforming part design and flexibles/films structure requirements for barrier and heat sealing. A fundamental understanding of heat sealing films to thermoformed containers, as well as applicable finished pack performance test methods is required
• Familiarity with Package test methods esp. related to Injection Molded parts and thermoform parts with plastic film seals etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical writing, to interact with other functions (Design, QA, potentially PR).

Education and Experience:
• Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years experience with injection molding and thermoform packaging
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
Compensation Range:
$31 - $34 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
