Bureau Veritas of North America is seeking Building Inspectors for territories in Western Pennsylvania including Mercer & Clarion counties.  The person in this dynamic role will work from a home office and spend considerable time in the field on a daily basis.  The person in this role should be someone who enjoys being outside, working independently, and working with clients in the field.


Responsibilities  

  • Performs a full range of inspection and evaluation of residential new construction and light commercial new construction, which may include complex structural and non-structural components, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, green building, and fire protection systems for compliance with the appropriate codes, other applicable regulations, and approved plans and specifications.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and evaluates findings of investigations and inspections. 
  • Issues standard construction and occupancy permits and approves final inspection certificates.
  • Maintains clear, concise, and comprehensive records and reports related to inspection activities.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma/ Associates Degree (preferred).
  • 2-5 years of experience working as a certified inspector performing multi-code building inspections is preferred. However, we are willing to consider high potential individuals with a trades background who are motivated to become ICC certified within a given period of time, to be agreed upon as a condition of hire.  
  • Prior inspection experience of new residential developments and new commercial construction preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the ICC, CBC, and other applicable local codes preferred.
  • We prefer candidates who currently possess Combination Building Inspector certifications with the ICC.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and able to work well with clients and co-workers
  • Must possess problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of office computer software – Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

The salary range for candidates meeting our basic requirements starts at approximately $40,000 per year and goes up to $50,000 per year, for an experienced, fully licensed/certified individual. The target salary is contingent upon factors such as experience, licenses, or certifications. In addition, we offer pay increases with additional certification/licensure once hired.
